I tried searching the web, and reading through some Grey Dog forums, but got lost with all the fake posts and inside jokes.

Does anyone know if BBPF will be released this year, before the NFL season starts?

It will be released when it's ready.

Are you sure about that? I heard it will be released when it's available.

It was a semi tongue-in-cheek response. Honestly, the longer I've played text sims, the bigger fan I am of non-specific release announcements. Set and announce a release date and in all likelihood, one of two things happens:

1. the release gets pushed back, and people freak out, or;
2. to prevent number one, the game gets released on the announced date, no matter what critical issues may be found at the 11th hour, and people freak out.

No release will ever be bug-free, to be sure, but I'm of the belief that buggy releases are often the result of attempting to meet announced deadlines at all costs.

The important question is...will it have a beer tent?

I'm looking forward to the release because Arles has said there would be another update to BBCF at that time, and has hinted that it might include a schedule editor.

I don't see why there can't be a happy medium between a release date and zero information about anything.

Only in the world of text sims is advance notice of a product considered poor form. It's such a backwards business.

Another thing I'd like to see in BBCF is trends in interest. If I see that a guy has an interest of 8 or 9 in me, I'd like to know if that's up from 7 or down from 10.

"Happy" medium? Not for everyone. Anything short of "it will be released on xxx" will upset some people. I have a personal happy medium, something along the lines of "we're shooting for Q4, but we're more concerned about releasing a stable, playable product than we are about hitting that target." But that would infuriate at least a portion of the customer base.

Agreed on that one. I track that on my own in the mp leagues, as I've found it to be pretty important.

There will be an update for BBCF when it's released, but the pro game is still in BETA right now. I don't like giving release dates because developing games isn't my full time gig. Still, this is easily the most fun I've had developing a game in years and I think people will really enjoy it.

It's possible that Bowl Bound wants to remain in the closet and we should respect that.

Honestly, I've just had so much other stuff come up since that post (single dad, now getting married next month, promoted in main job) that I haven't had the time to really finish it. I'm still working on it, though, and I will post again once it gets closer to release.

Still, I appreciate the interest level that still lingers around for BBCF/BBPF :)

Don't forget that interest is a perishable commodity. :)

I’m glad to see you realize how selfish you are being about this. Now get to work. (BBCF first please)

WTF still nothing? But I've devoted precious minutes of my times reading threads about it just to support this indie developer! Arles, you owe me this game!

What's next for you Arlie, the Pro game or BBCF 2?

I decided to try out BBCF today. I liked the demo enough to go and buy it. As I was about to pull the trigger, it dawned on me that it all seemed familiar somehow. I did a search on my e-mail and lo and behold, there was an e-mail with my purchase confirmation--I apparently bought it 4 or 5 years ago. The e-licensing worked and everything, w00t!

I don't remember why I never got in to it back then--I guess the game engine seemed questionable, not to mention I was really busy with planning a wedding, buying a house and working 60 hours a week. Anyway, the patched-up version I'm playing now (with the Icy/Vegas Vic/Dark Cloud mods) seems a lot more fun and reasonably realistic compared to the version I had remembered playing...

If you have any interest in multi-player, we've got the FOFC-BBCF, which has been around since the game came out.

I might be interested, I want to get in a few seasons in a solo career to get acclimated first.

BTW, I checked out the FOFC-BBCF site and spotted the Icy's Real Pack file. I think that the Vegas Vic/Dark Cloud mods pulled Icy's art work already. Are there any other reasons why I ought to to install Icy's file also?

Prob. not. But I haven't checked out any other mods in quite a while.

Found this over at GD forums, it was posted on 7/31/12:

We're going to setup a thread here to provide updates on the games that each of our developers are currently working on. Bear in mind that all release dates are estimates and will be updated as the time gets closer:

Brian Nichols: Fast Break Pro Basketball - ETA 4th Quarter 2012

Adam Ryland: Total Extreme Wrestling 2013 - ETA 4th Quarter 2012

Arlie Rahn: Bowl Bound Pro Football - ETA 2nd half 2013

This thread will be closed to just allow people to view the current games we are working on. Feel free to start additional threads on the games or overall questions.

Arlie is becoming the George R.R. Martin of text sim developers :). I'm sure when it does come out it will be quality work though.

I would expect the next sentence after "I'm lost" to be something like "Where am I?" or "Where's the nearest freeway?" -- priorities, people.
