View Full Version : Antiperspirant /deodorant question

Ok so I've noticed that in the past couple of months, more and more shirts I wear will end up with these horrible white lines under the arms, or on the sides (I guess where I accidentally touch while applying).

This was not happening last year for sure, so I'm thinking it's the antiperspirant I use (Old Spice Red Zone clear gel). The shirt I'm wearing right now for instance, I wore last summer with no problems. Now this year the first time I put it on, it's ruined. I wish I remembered which Antiperspirant /deodorant I used before.

Does anyone have the same problems, or had the same problems? What antiperspirant/deodorant do you use?

Is the shirt ruined, or will the white marks come out in the laundry? I've gotten those on my shirts, but it's just the "extra" deodorant that rubs off onto the shirt...it always comes out in the laundry with no problems or having to pre-treat it.

Yeah, I get that. It drives my fiance nuts, but I couldn't care less. If it bothers her so much, I figure she can wash the shirt.

No it doesn't come out! That's what's frustrating.

I suggest spraying under your arms with Nair.

I suggest Gillette Clear Gel Antiperspirant. Been using it for years, never had a problem.

a) I've certainly had that happen (on colored undershirts, see below), but mine has always come out in the wash.
b) This shouldn't happen because it should get on the t-shirt you wear under your shirt. You're not one of those guys, are you?

I only wear one shirt. It would be way too hot to wear two shirts!

Maybe I'll try Gilette. Maybe that's what I used to use, I have no idea.

I had that problem and I switched to Degree. Now I don't have that problem anymore.

You live in Canada, how hot can it be?

And I don't care if you live in Ecuador, you wear a t-shirt man! Or do you need to show off some hot chest hair and sweet chains? :)

I agree with lordscarlet, in most situations you should be doubling up.

So you guys actually wear two t-shirts, one over top the other?

I use to wear 2 shirts, but it made me sweat more.

MikeVic

Yeah two t-shirts would kill me.

Fidatelo

well 2 t-shirts doesn't really make sense (unless one is long-sleeve and the other is short-sleeve). But if you're wearing a collared shirt you should really have a white crew-neck shirt underneath, just those generic white t's from Fruit of the Loom or whatever (but NOT a wife beater! sleeves dammit, sleeves!).

if you've got some hot chest hair coming up the top of your t-shirt, then you got some other problem you need to take care. :p

I could never live with two t-shirst one on top of the other.

How in the world can you guys stand using the gel? Tried it once and it was like putting hair gel on my armpits. Go with sprays or a non gel type product. I use the 'solid' kind and don't have those lines on my shirts.

I was thinking of polos and button ups, not t-shirts.

I understand the reasoning behind a t-shirt under a dress/button down shirt...but why under a polo or regular t-shirt (ls or ss)? Is this some guy rule that I just don't get?

wade moore

I always wear two shirts. Like LS says, it provides a barrier to the outer shirt. You get cheapee haynes white t-shirts and wear those under your regular t-shirt. It basically doesn't change the warmth at all, it's a thin little white t-shirt - it's not like it's made of wool.

Yes.

you're contradicting yourself in that very post :p

Anyway, just can't stand very a t-shirt under a polo, even if it's only a tiny layer of white fabric.

a) Yes
b) It prevents the nasty yellow/crusty deodorant arm-pits from developing on your good clothes.
c) For a polo: I don't want to see your chest. Period. Unless you have boobs.

No. I was referring to polos and button-ups in regards to chest hair and gold chains, not in regards to an undershirt.

Another visual problem: I don't want to see your nips or the outline of your man boobs. T-shirts help to prevent this.

T-shirts also give you something to strip down to if you're doing unexpected dirty work.

I am a cheap hanes or fruit of the loom under anyshirt.

As stated it prevents the stains and such...But to me, I was always raised to dress in layers.

Also, think about this as well....why do you think women shave their underarms?

For those making fun of man boobs, I leave you with this...

I think it should be noted that having that second shirt helps guard against things like this:

That is just disgusting. And completely unnecessary. Why would you do that to us Fidatelo????? :(

Sometimes the truth is ugly. MikeVic and other 1-shirt wearers need to see the reality of the decision they make every morning.

Just go to work shirtless, it's hot anyway.

MikeVic

That would solve my problems with shirts I guess.

I think the women of FOFC will need a pic of you without your shirt on before we can approve this new plan...
