FOOL is a 16-team league that's finishing up its third season right now. We have more than a few teams available for humans. The premise is pretty simple. It's a low-commitment league, emphasizing speed and efficiency. It's best for solo players of OOTP 2007 (or OOTP8) who want to play online, but without a lot of the hassles of more traditional online league play.
A typical FOOL season runs like this: (all exports are due at 9pm central time)
Monday: Last chance to resign your own players, Sim to start of free agency
Tues night: Sim to December 1st (Trade window begins from tonight's sim)
Wednesday night: Sim to pre-season, Draft lists available. (March 1st)
Thursday night: Trade deadline, Draft is conducted, Run Spring Training (no fatigue on), sim to opening day (trade window ends)
Friday night: Last chance to export (set lineups/depth charts, last chance to export before start of new season)
Saturday-Sunday: Season simmed.
We have a $65 million salary cap and financials are relatively constant over history, so we're not playing with 1960s financials, we just wanted to go with a year that was early, so when we build history and go fast, it's not some crazy year before we can get a handle on it.
Unless there is a holiday or some other event, we sim the entire season in a week, meaning that we'll accumulate a history fast. Player fatigue is currently on (as of the '63 season) and trading is allowed from Tuesday to Thursdays before 9pm.
Some of other notable rules include:
- No injuries
- No coaches and scouts
- 154-game season, with no inter-league play
- League champions play in a best-of-nine championship called The FOOL Classic.
The league began one afternoon in the FOBL chat room and has a forum hosted over there. After the FOFC move to Operation Sports, we'll be moving the league forum over here to FOFC mostly to increase the league's visibility now that we've worked out the kinks as it were.
If you're interested in joining or have questions, feel free to post here and I'll answer whatever questions you might have.
