Julienne that puppy, sprinkle it with some olive oil and worcestershire sauce, add some salt, chuck in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes, and you've got yourself a fine side dish.
Alternatively, throw it through the windshield of your neighbor's car with the siren that goes off each night at 2:00 AM.

I can honestly say I've never had a rutabaga
If it tastes like a cauliflower potato, I may just have to check it out.

Most of the proper preparations for this so-called food involve sufficient dressings and seasonings to eliminate any evidence of the thing itself. So, by all means, smother that bitch with oil and brown sugar and garlic and whatnot -- as long as I don't have to taste what's underneath, I'm fine.

Ah, so it's like a big giant Brussel Sprout. Got it.

I think I will use this for the first time after saying it made no sense....yet this thread has made sense of it to me.
This thread = FAIL!

Seriously, it tastes like cauliflower with the texture of a potato.
I had never had it before I met my wife. Her family has it as a tradition at Thanksgiving. The worst part about it is that I'm usually the one who gets the chore of chopping away the waxy outside to get to the edible stuff. I'm amazed I haven't lost one or more fingers yet.

I like them. I think it tastes more like a slightly spicy potato. Now beets, they suck.

I would probably rank root vegetables (the ones that I can think off off the top of my head) as:
1) Sweet Potato
2) Baking Potatoes (just gonna lump those all together)
3) Beet
4) Carrot
1,564) Radish

Blasphemer! At least you can eat radishes raw. Yum!

Wow. Eating raw made me realize I left onions off the list. That's probably #2.

Me neither. And from what I've read in this thread, I don't think I'm missing out.
Now beets, they suck.
Correct. Beets are horrid (though the time I had Borscht in Moscow it was actually fairly decent).

Radishes rock. Nice and spicy...yum! Now onions, on the other hand...#1,565.

I love sweet potatoes, baked potatoes and non-raw carrots. Radishes are the primary ingredient (besides lettuce) for salads my wife makes for us. She does cucs, ruccs and radishes, while I am content with just radishes. Now rutabagas? No thank you.

Cooked carrots are not good. Raw is the only way to go with them...
