Thanks for kicking our asses tonight.
That is all....
I cannot believe they threw Springer out for hitting Howard though. At least LaRussa threw his glasses up, slapped them to the ground, and the proceeded to smash them with his foot.

Ha! Aaron Miles is pitching...and is by far the best pitcher of the night for the Cards!

Glad they waited until the 9th to bring him in... ;)

I'm just patiently waiting around here to wait for the first Mets fan to come into this thread and start bashing Philly fans.
Last night was pretty surprising. I hope the Phils didn't spend all of their runs for this series on last night. :)

Last night was pretty surprising? They're putting up 7.5 runs/game in the last couple of weeks, and this was the second time this year they got 20 in a game.

Exactly, not sure what is surprising about it. They are scoring at a phenomenal rate right now and are outscoring opponents well over 2 to 1 the last few weeks.

Yes, but being a Philly fan you must also understand the feeling of waiting for the bottom to fall out. ;)

They are scoring all of those runs and Ryan Howard is hitting like 0.210? Wow...

Yeah, but who looks at batting average anymore? What's his DUP or GRIP or BLARGH or KUMNGO? Hmm? Batting average is so 1980.

A-men brother.
Honestly, this whole "Phillies have a solid bullpen" thing is really new. I'm just so conditioned to absolutely no lead being safe for the past three years that I still hold me breath for anything.
Also, just to see 20 runs scored in any game, no matter what the offense, is really really surprising.

Ryan Howard is about the fourth-best hitter in the lineup, behind Utley, Rollins, and Burrell.
Note: I said *hitter*. Not run producer (though he may also be the fourth-best run-producer on the team, behind those guys).

His KUMNGO is 1398544.364632367, which apparently is good.

No, no, no...that's definitely descriptive of Marlin's baseball.

Oh? So your bullpen relied on Jose Mesa, Antonio Alfonseca, Clay Condrey, Geoff Geary and Tom Gordon too for the last three years?
I'm still of the belief that the team signed Jose Mesa last year, just to take heat off of Charlie Manuel. The city's hate of Joe Table is unifying, and enough to distract them from bad play.

He's back.. but LaRussa said he wouldn't be in the closers role for now.
