Aww man, what a joy to come home and see this thread. To me, it comes down to two girls: Winnie and Madeline. Despite the first (and last) love, the thing that kicks Winnie up is my favorite episode where Kevin tells her he loves her. Only time he had done that, iirc. But I also believe he had a real hard on for Madeline until he told her to fuck off, another one of my favorite episode. Now that said, you can make a case for Winnie. Attractive in an unusual way, first love, first kiss and all that.. and absolutely smizzokin' in a red Christmas fairy outfit (the snow-globe thing after Paul said, "Why get her more of what she already has?" Haha I love that episode even more after working at VS)

I soooo empathize with the stress out sitting by the phone wrestling with whether or not to call Lisa Berlini. She was hot, but not much personality to her from what I can remember. Man, Wayne was a dick.

Teri's an interesting case. There's just something enchanting about those summertime romances, especially when you throw in the whole water equation. In fact, I'd argue in some ways that Kevin had an even greater connection with her than he did Winnie... and there's just something about that eyes.

Becky Slater I had a love/hate relationship with her. There were times I could actually get to like her, but then I'd want to punch the hell out of her because she was such a -bitch-.

There was some dialogue that got cut in that scene in the bootleg series DVDs I got cut (I didn't know it was illegal when I got it off ebay).

I was always one to fall hard when I really liked a girl. I tended to put them on pedestals. Winnie is Kevin's "girl who got away." I had a couple of those, so I can really sympathize with him. You love the girl who you end up with in the end, but you never forget those special girls from along the way.

That math teacher episode is one of my favorite's if not my favorite. That whole story line was great in the way it came full circle to where it started with his final line to the principal compared to his first line to Mr. Collins.

Sorry for bringing this up again but I got out my tapes last night and watched a number of episodes, including this one. It really is a testament of how perfectly this show and episode were scripted, acted and of course, narrated. But as many fans noted, it was also the great choice of music throughout. By the end of this particular episode, if you are not already crying, you will be when Linda Ronstadt's (or Karla Bonoff's) Goodbye My Friend starts right at the perfect time.

Along the lines with Buc's comments...I was watching some Wonder Years this weekend and it was an episode about Buster, the family dog. The last quote of the episode always brings tears to my eyes because I had recently just lost the dog that grew up with me last year and the quote pretty much sums him up.

I'm even stronger of the opinion that Teri was the ideal girl for Kevin as I'm reviewing old episodes. I think Madeline was way too far out of his league, and he subconsciously recognized that so he very stupidly rejected her. Winnie ran way too damn hot and cold.
