What is with all this huge opening weekend for HULK? I keep getting told by the media how wonderful of an opening weekend Hulk had, and how Marvel never expected such a great opening weekend.

Hulk's opening weekend numbers were $55.4 million

Ironman's opening Weekend number were $100.8 million

Spiderman 3's opening numbers were $150.3 million

Granted Spiderman is an established franchise, but how can they be happy with only 50% of what an unknown Ironman did on opening weekend?

Ironman had a couple years of hype. The Hulk came on the back of the major flop of the last Hulk.

I don't pretend to be an expert. But Spiderman and Ironman were stratospheric record breakers.

I think Ang Lee's Hulk really killed enthusiasm in this one.

This one did less than that, but I think that one turned a lot of people off. I think they're happy with with the results.

It did better than I expected it would.

At least now they're on a positive tilt for either another Hulk movie, or still building up steam for an Avengers flick.

I have a family friend who's a Hollywood agent, and she told me that the scene in Entourage where they say a movie that beats projections by a dollar is viewed as a hit, and a movie that misses projections by a dollar is viewed as a flop, is pretty accurate.

Wouldn't they be polising a "turd"?

A "terd" is

TERD

TERD Training Equipment Requirements Document

So are you asking if they're trying to use the movie as a document to show what training equipment might be required to create a very strong green guy?

Hulk had the 6th highest June opening in history.

Hulk would smash you if you called him a terd.

Hulk would smash you if you called him a terd.

He probably wouldn't know what you meant. David Banner on the other hand would be angry.

You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Because it is universally accepted that Ang Lee's Hulk was the worst comic book movie in the history of all comic book movies.

For this one to gross HALF of what Iron Man pulled in was a major coup.

It IS a very good movie. On par, or better than Iron Man in pacing and action, IMO.

With the highest ticket prices in history.

Wonder how it did if you adjust the various flicks for inflation? :)

My guess is it would drop a few spots, but still remain around the top 10. But my point was you have to consider when a movie opened. Iron Man's $98 million is only the #9 May opening in history.

Ang Lee's Hulk wasn't good, but I don't think it was worse than any of those I've listed...
