Man Loses 86 lbs Eating at McDonalds

http://www.clevelandleader.com/files/fruitwalnutsalad.jpg

Losing weight, for many, means going on a diet and cutting out fast food. But for Chris Coleson, a businessman from Richmond, VA, fast-food dining was actually able to help him lose weight.

Coleson told his wife that he could close weight by eating anywhere - even McDonald's. So that he did. He ate just two meals per day at Mickey D's, consisting of "wraps, apple-walnut salads, and the occassional cheeseburger." Since Coleson began his McD's diet in December, he has lost 86 lbs.

The key to his weight loss success is in the number of calories he is consuming. Notice that he's not chosen the greasiest, fattiest choices on the menu - instead he's chosen more sensible options, and limits his caloric intake to 1,200 to 1,400 calories per day. For an adult male, that kind of intake is pretty low.

So there you go - McDonald's can either help you pile on the pounds, as Morgan Spurlock showed us in "Supersize Me (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390521/)", or it can help you lose weight if you choose healthier options and a "starvation diet."

Yeah I guess McDonald's has some healthier choices now. But only a 1200 calorie intake would be impossible for me I think.

That salad is SO good...it's one of my favorite things to order at McD's.

I'm really glad that someone did this and is having success, I had major issues with the Morgan Spurlock movie. Yes, McDonalds is bad for you, everyone knows that...Subway promotes their healthy food, but if you choose to pile extra mayonnaise onto your subs that you eat 4 or 5 times a week, you are going to see some extra pounds. It's all about choices, and moderation.

He was also the only Cleveland resident who didn't line up at Papa John's last month.

I can't wait until he gets his own TV series, too.

Bah... you don't HAVE to go on a starvation diet to lose weight at McDonalds. I'm not sure why all the articles I've seen on this have pointed this out. I'm sure if he would have went with a 2,000 cal diets and exercised he would have lost weight just not at that fast of pace.

You also don't need to eat like a dipshit to pile on the pounds either like Spurlock did. (Personally, I can't stand Spurlock and his '30 day crap')

Yup, I totally agree.

That wasn't my note btw, it was from the article.

That was a horrible, horrible movie. I can't believe people liked it. He manipulated everything to suit his needs.

SUPERSIZE ME!!!!!!!!

was such a waste of time. Only 10% of that movie was worthwhile.
For example the part where he was talking about public schools' lunches

Exactly! I refused to see it in theaters or when all the hype was surrounding it, but I caught it on cable a few months back and it didn't change my first reaction to it at all. You go from eating an uber-healthy diet to eating McD's supersize meals 3x a day, the greasiest, nastiest stuff you can, soda with every meal (they offer bottled water and tea, along with like powerade/fruitopia/lemonade at the fountain), and then you are surprised when you:

a. gain weight
b. show alarming increases in your cholesterol and other bloodwork
c. are alarmed when your dr tells you you could be damaging your internal organs
d. are tired and exhausted all the time

Watching that just made me even more annoyed with Spurlock for making it, and for the public for making such a big deal about it.

+1. There is no way I could ever even come close to having that small of a calorie intake a day.

1200 calories I had more than that for a snack last night. I am driving home and had a craving, sorry pumpy not that kind of craving, for some KFC.
I had high hopes that these minimum wage folks could pull a miracle out of them and not mess up one order. That all ened when I walked up to the regiester. They assume that since all I ordered was two large mashed potatoes and gravy and a drink it was to go. Then those asses gave me a bowl when I specifically asked for a plate. How the hell am I suppose to make a pond and make a leak on one side and fix it from potatoes on the other side.
Anyone?

I could lose weight eating four Big Macs a day. Maybe something to try out.

I was thinking about how fun it was going to be putting the gravy in the hole I was going to create and thought about how much fun you where having putting something in a hole. I don't know why I had to explain it, its pretty obvious what you crave and thought for sure you would put together the process of making a pond and satisfing your one desire.
I've got to stop thinking about you when I'm awake.

It's about going after the Big Bad Corporation and getting the Federal Govt to do something about it. Is nearly everyone lacking in common sense these days??

How the hell did this get back on topic, 5 posts without a pumpy mention ( He already posted in this thread). Guys you need to show pumpy a little more love. Maybe I love him a little too much if there is such a thing, but please tell me I'm not the only one here that sees macaroni and cheese, strawberry jello, chocolate covered nuts, and a XXL condom together and thinks of pumpy.

Ok, this may seem a little juvenile but I had an imaginary best friend named pumpy for the last week. Well last night I went to McDonald's and of course he came with me. I was ordering the food and saw him walking towards the bench where Ronald was sitting. After I got the order I looked over and saw that somehow he got underneath Ronald and was going at it with a big ole grin on his face. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't Kathy Griffin. On the way home he was feeling pretty good about himself and his conquest and started talking about how much bigger he was then me. That’s when I made the mistake of telling him that wasn't who he thought it was on the bench and he said he never wanted to see me again. I haven't seen him since, but heard him say he was going to the Short, Red Haired, Nymph Shop.

I sure am going to miss the horny guy, I think he screwed everything but a screw when he was here. But I’m not saying that didn’t happen either.

I never quite understood the hype around the movie. In tomorrow's master feature: "If you don't sleep, you're going to be in worse mental and physical shape"
