The Alternate Universe Football League (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com) currently finishing up the 1986 season is a combined NFL-USFL football league. The league has a solid core of GMs and we've just had a new opening come up: the Baltimore Stars (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=73).

The Stars are currently 5-8 and tied for 2nd in the AFC South (which consists of the Houston Oilers, Stars, Birmingham Stallions and Indianapolis Colts).

AUFL sims two games per week with two midweeks as well. Games are played on Tuesdays & Fridays and midweeks on Mondays and Thursdays.

The players are historical and the league includes PHP player pages with full stats and photos. Check out the page for Stars' running back Kelvin Bryant (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=110).

Any interested GM is welcome, whether a noob or grizzled vet.

The Detroit Lions (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=63) (5-8, 2nd place NFC North) and Seattle Seahawks (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=70) (3-10, last in NFC West) are also available.

Updating the open slots - the Seahawks, Lions & Raiders are available.

We've just finished the 1986 regular season and the Raiders finished with a 13-3 record (best in the league) earning home field through the AFC playoffs. This is a very strong team which reached the Super Bowl last season and has to be the favorite to go back this season despite not having a human GM. Roster includes such greats as Marcus Allen, Howie Long, Mike Haynes, Todd Christensen, Matt Millen, Rod Martin, etc, etc.

The Seahawks finished 4-12, so they need some help, but this is a team that went 11-5 in 1985 and probably are suffering mostly from their lack of a good human GM. QB is a concern with incumbent Joe Pisarcik not really the answer, but weapons are there with Curt Warner, Steve Largent and John L Williams on the roster. Kenny Easley leads a strong secondary and there are several other good solid defensive players around. Not as much of a rebuilding project as the record would indicate.

The Lions finished 8-8 to miss the playoffs (finishing 2nd in the North to the 10-6 Bears), but did show some signs of life this season. Could use an upgrade over Eric Hipple at QB to improve the offense's efficiency. Defensively, the team is solid, finishing 8th among the 32 teams in points allowed.

The upcoming draft will feature several decent QBs (Testaverde, Chris Miller, Harbaugh, Beuerlein and Gannon) to help build either the Lions or Seahawks back into respectability.
