When the draft rolls around you will see a little button that says "Import Draft File" I believe it shows up right before you click "Start Free Agency"

Just wanted to give this thread a bump. I would love to get my hands on the 2008 roster file if anybody has a file that I could use. I have the draft file but I am big on the rosters being correct and really have no interest in running the 07 season and drafting from the 08 class. You can send it to [email protected] if you don't want to post it on the board. Please help a brother out if you can. Thanks in advance!

Since no one seems to be working on a file, I'll give one a spin, seems to be what I do.

Unless we get a few people together to edit 1 or 2 teams each in the players.csv file this will never get done.
We would all have to agree on player ratings, i.e. 0 = scrub, 9 = elite (less then 1% of players are elite, but again we would have to agree on players).

For example I could create a .csv file for each team (to be merged after completion) and send them out one by one. Allow for 60 players per roster.

Here is an example of the Packers roster of players rated more then 1;
Aaron Rodgers = 3
Ryan Grant = 5
Donald Lee = 3
Greg Jennings = 7
Scott Wells = 3
Mark Tauscher = 5
Chad Clifton = 7
Aaron Kampman = 8
Nick Barnett = 4
A.J Hawk = 6
Al Harris = 4
Charles Woodson = 5

The rest of the players would be a mix of 0s, 1s, 2s...

The hardest part will be rating (and agreeing to) certain attributes for standout players and of course their contracts.

An example of attributes is that while you don't want to rate Devin Hester as more then a 3, you have to rate his kick and punt returning duty at 9 (max rating).

A few players I could see as Elite;
Tom Brady
L.T
Randy Moss
T.O
Braylon Edwards
A.P
Antonio Gates
Tony Gonzalez
Jared Allen
Kevin Williams (DT)
Ed Reed
Troy Palomanu
Gibril Wilson

Pretty strong words, have some faith here.

I should edit that as I know how strong this community is.
Well then I am sure this will happen, just someone needs to organise and maybe start a thread on player ratings and who will take what teams.
Some can make suggestions on websites to use for accurate player salaries (I have absolutely no idea).

Just chill a little. Nilodor's money.

I have gotten off on the wrong foot here with some people. I meant no disrespect to anyone here, it was only a suggestion. I didn't know someone was already working on a file.

Have some faith in Nilodor, these things don't happen over night. He will get the file up in due time. Don't worry about getting off on the wrong foot Sef0r, you were only trying to help out. Have faith in these guys though, they take this community serious and don't take on a project without giving it 100%. Thanks again Nilodor.

Just make sure that the Redskins are the most injury-prone bastards in that file!!

Are you going to leave out Odell Thurman? (Please do)

and also can you just happen to forget that my beloved Bungles resigned Henry...that'd be great too?

Going to create a new chise with a clean non-80's Raiders, Bengals squad.

P.S Is it possible to change any draft picks for next years draft from trades this year?

nilodor

Update: Halfway home, for sure will be done before the season starts.

Answer a couple of questions, no, you can't trade draft picks in the file and I won't have proper salaries in the file. How I do them is I used the salary breakdown for starters from the nflpa, to divvy up the salary cap properly, then assigned the value of the contract based on the players experience and overall rating, the length of the contract is random, with the mean around 3 years. I'm not too concerned about not having proper salaries, because they seem to mean so little in the real NFL.

Just to say nilodor, many thanks for the update on how you are doing, and appreciate the hard work and dedication you are putting in for all of us. Looking forward to the end product, you rock dude...

I don't keep too careful track of these things, but my recollection is that we've never had a fall (read: start of football season, or thereabouts) go by where there wasn't either a new release, or a patch, to the latest FOF game. I know the community appreciates the effort from nilodor, but I'd hate to see him go through all this and just find out that he got in at exactly the wrong time here, right before an official release (as would be the case in pretty much every year I can remember). For a project apparently being measured in fortnights, I'd hate to see all that time invested for naught.

When I started there were 3 possible things I saw happening:

1. Release of a new game (FOF 2008 or TCY 2), if FOF 2008 is released, I would like to release an updated version of the historical files (I imagine an update would be needed as probably some other ratings would be added to the files), or an update to the draft files, in either case the work I'm doing will be good, because I'm building the 08 rosters in the same file as the historical project.

2. No release of anykind - I agree that this would be unlikely, given the history here, but if this was the case than a new file would be a good thing

3. Release of an update to fof 2007 - Worst case scenario, so the work I'm doing right now wouldn't really be relevant to this season, but as discussed in 1, eventually it would need to be done, because I assume that there will be a new version of either game, where the roster/draft files carry a different format.

That being said, I do appreciate the concern but it is something that should be done eventually and it's a good break from thesis writing.

Your work is great and appreciated. Waiting (im)patiently. Take your time and get it right. I play 100% SP and 98% historical start (60s Packers, for example).
