New or Updated Version

Is there any idea if there will be a new release or update for the upcoming season? I loved this game when it first came out and would like to play it again. However I do not want to buy a new version if I will have to pay to update it again in a few months. Thanks!

No idea. But it's doubtful Solecismic will release anything just for the start of a football season, he's never operated like that before. So if you think FOF is for you, it's fairly safe to pick up FOF2k7 now.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that TCY2 is next anyway.

Thanks!Solecismic Software plays it very close to the vest with regard to what is coming next and when it's coming. Typically in the fall there's either a free update with a roster/schedule update for the current season, or a new game. If it's a free update, there's usually no notice at all; he just pops up and releases it one day. If it's a new game, Jim typically indicates that something is coming, but doesn't say what. It's usually something on his web site along the lines of "we are hoping to release a new game this fall. Watch this space for further announcements." And the announcement usually comes very 11th-hour for this industry (FOF2K7 was announced on one day, then released the next, for example.)

This being said, I think (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that when he releases a new game, he offers a discount to people who bought the previous game in the previous 6 months or so.

Overall, I'd agree with Dutch: if you think FOF is for you, get it. It's only 30 bucks, and with the long-term support that Solecismic offers, you won't regret it.
