Trading FOF vs NFL

I have noticed in my MP leagues that trading is very much different from the NFL and I was curious as to why people think this happens.

An example is a player like DeAngelo Hall getting moved for a 2nd round pick.

In any FOF league I have been in owners would ask for at least 2 firsts for a CB of his status.

I also see guys paying 3 firsts for a LT or multiple firsts for a RB. In the NFL you would never see deals like that made.

I got ridiculed in one of my leagues because I was trading some good players away and only asking for one first and a mid round in return for them.

Probably a few reasons. We're all a little more cavalier when our careers and livelihood (not to mention millions of dollars of our own money) aren't on the line. Making a megadeal is a few clicks for us, even if the end result may not really have a large positive impact on our teams. Making a megadeal for the management of real world franchises involves significant risk and cost that simply can't be replicated in the game world. So yeah, we make big deals just to shake things up and have a good time.

Another reason is probably the nature of the game. There is much more certainty related to the performance of highly rated players or high draft picks in FOF than there is in the real world. Take Randy Moss for example, he would never have the seasons he had in Oakland in an FOF environment, not while being capable of the season he had a year ago in New England. The same holds for other positions and players. A player is probably worth more in FOF because you have more certainty about what you're getting. In the NFL you can't give up multiple high draft picks, even for solid veterans, because you simply can't predict that you're going to get value there.

Other reasons as well, but I think those are some of the bigger ones.
