So my first go-round in college, back in '91, everybody was playing this game. I can not remember what the hell the name was. I'm almost positive it was on nintendo. It featured a rudimentary salary system whereby you could improve your players special abilities. Hitters could have some ungodly power #'s, pitchers could throw wicked exploding stuff... The teams, I'm fairly certain, were based in Japan, though I'm not 100% that all teams were.

I never did get to play a season on it.

Would Baseball Stars maybe be the one you're thinking of?

Yeah, he's talking about Baseball Simulator 1.000. I played the hell out of that game. You could even edit rosters. I always liked making an unstopable leadoff guy. If you gave him enough speed, he was impossible to get out after laying down a bunt.

It's BS1.000. However, Baseball Stars ftw.

Now...how do we proceed to step 2 of our evil plan and actually -play- a season of one of these games?

I've got the day off from work and looking to recapture a little of the glory my youth never had.

The Emulator Zone - Nintendo NES Emulators (http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/nes/)

Nester works well for me.

Googling Nintendo ROMs should let you find the other stuff you need.

Still is. :-D

It has been a while since I fired it up. But I still remember:

When is it? When it is.
What is a wren? A bird.

The only problem with baseball stars is you could never get through a full season because you had to do that reset/power combo turnoff and had to have it totally timed.

I would kill for Baseball Stars 3 on the Wii. Even the original on the Virtual Console would be nice. They put the Neo-Geo version on there but you can't name your own players/teams and spend money upgrading the players, which was my favorite part of the game.

Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 on the SNES was great, I don't think I ever played the NES original.
