I'm still spinning from the story about the dismissal of two Nebraska wrestlers for being in gay porn.
Are there really gay people at the University of Nebraska? Did Tommy Lee know that before he decided to go to school there?

That poll I don't recall not to say that wasn't one or that the results were what you say they were. However the inference that this board is some liberal or democrat leaning place I can say that four years ago that most definitely wasn't my impression. I found this board to be overun by conservatives or at least Bushites and others voting for him. Now that few God fearing Bush supporters would dare stick there heads out for fear of being lambasted I guess the Obama (liberal/democrats) are more outspoken now there is little fear of being stoned in the towns square so to speak. I don't think I would have to remind anyone that four years ago in this country from a "real" freedom of speech to say what you think perspective things were quite differnt than today. And that is meant that now is better.YMMV

I've never thought the board leans liberal or conservative. We probably over represent libertarians, but that's typical on the internet. Otherwise I think FOFC is pretty well balanced ideologically.

I think very few people who supported Bush on this board 4 years ago are hiding their heads.
And this board was never overrun with conservatives. A strong libertarian leaning plurality that maybe you thought were Republicans.I don't think I would have to remind anyone that four years ago in this country from a "real" freedom of speech to say what you think perspective things were quite differnt than today. I dunno - my impression is that this board is pretty Republican - that's probably because if I took a guess at the demographics, we have something like 95% white males here, the vastj majority of whom are in the 25+ age range - by definition, that group would be expected to lean Republican.
PS - I may be off - off the top of my head, us non-whiteys are myself, Necqua, Noop, SkyDog, GrantDawg, DarkCloud, and AnalBumCover - :D

Noop, my friend, if you going to be a lawyer, you got to learn to keep your knee-jerk reactions in check else you will have a very small clientele because everyone else has the wrong ilk.
As far as the board leanings, no one can accurately say because most judge others from their own political position on the spectrum but it does hearten me to hear the perception that there are too many libertarians here. :)
But according to the results of this poll so far, there are not enough. Sab said it best.

This is a more tilted toward Obama. The poll I found (not linked, sorry), had a 53-37 Kerry margin. This one, as of now, is 56-19 Obama. Draw your own conclusions.

4 years ago, if I recall the threads, there were a lot of "holding their nose" or "lesser of two evils" voting. I tend to view the word "supporting" in a narrow sense - just because one voted for someone, doesn't mean that one supports that someone. I don't recall the last time I voted for a president and it certainly won't happen again this year. My vote will actually come down how Colorado polls before the election. The only thing I want to vote for is gridlock.

Bucc - you realize I'm not Noop, right? You can tell us apart, yes? The point is, that if you look at general American polling data, you would damn well see that white men generally lean to the GOP. My point here isn't to say that its good or bad - just guessing. If this was a group made up primarily of 30 something lesbians, I'd guess it probably leans Democrat.

Yes, four years ago I was in Korea but working with Americans and alot of my infernce was I suppose from being on this board. It just appeared after 9-11 the whole either with us and against us pervaded the society. I didn't need to live on applebrook lane, in South Bend Indiana to see that. But, that aside I agree with some of your assertions. Though I can't say the same about voting for Bush todayI did vote for him in 2000 but voted thrid party last time around. I too am starting to lean towards the Libertarian way and wasn't referring to their basic platform it is more the neo conservative/ staunch republican positions (some not all) that am against.

I didn't need to live on applebrook lane, in South Bend Indiana to see that.Maybe for the first couple months (and even then I remember and can show you plenty of examples of people vocally disagreeing with our invasion of Afghanistan and not being sent to jail) but by Nov 2004 I assure you we were well back into partisan gridlock.
For serious commentary on the election, there's no way Obama should lose. Based off the metrics with economic growth, presidential approval rating and incumbency, he has <2% chance of losing, and he's facing a candidate who has run a terrible campaign to date. Yet somehow he keeps losing ground and McCain has nearly tied him in the polls. Presumably this is the post-nomination consolidation where the media puts out all the bad stories and by the fall Obama can sweep through, but he really does seem to be fucking up left and right and in the process of rectifying one wrong he causes two more. Short of a war on Iran starting in the next 2 months, the entire DNC should quit out of embarassment if Obama doesn't pull at least 350 electoral votes. And the entire RNC should have quit years ago for letting it get to this point. Yay two party system. (Don't blame me, I voted for the Dolphins fan.)

Just one poll? We need an FOFC Electoral College.
I'm going to sort the votes by state to create an electoral college. I'll just go by the location listed in your profile. If you plan on voting in a different state from that, or didn't list one, feel free to PM me and let me know. Also, if you want to put in a vote but didn't want to vote in the public poll, you can also PM me.
