According to CBS, helicopters are now attacking the Iraq/Kuwait border

Is the land war getting ready to launch? I thought we would see something similar to the air strike in the first Persian Gulf War before the ground troops advanced.

Also, CBS is reporting more missiles were launched against U.S. troops within the last hour and one of them was taken out with a Patriot missile. No confirmation on if the missiles held chemical or biological weapons.

Fox reports the the Iraqis have set a few oil wells on fire.

Fox's embedded reporter confirmed that helicopters were hitting targets in Iraq.

Just heard a reporter on NBC that quoted a source in the Pentago who said they were disappointed in the small amounts of Iraqi soldiers surrendering thus far. They hope as soon as the invasion picks up, they'll see more white flags.

Sky News was reporting earlier that Kuwaiti officials were negotiating with 2 divisions (about 20,000) of conscripts in Southern Iraq who want to surrender.

I think once we actually get into Iraq we'll see more, but how much more I have no idea.

There was an interesting commentary on NBC about how intelligence and politicians deciding to make that sudden missile attack on a leadership bunker might have been a small tactical mistake because Iraq now appears to have some type of momentum - they're holding out so far, oil fields and defenses are being set on fire and prepared, and Hussein is broadcasting over the T.V. stating he is still alive. It basically provides morale for the Iraqi troops. The first attack was not part of the military's plan. The next attack wave (and what I presume is the initial plan) will have to be strong and the military may have to speed up and change their plans. I know many people blame Norman Schwartzkopf for not changing his plans and speeding up after quickly slicing through Iraqi defenses and think if he adjusted his plans to the battlefield results, we may have gone for Baghdad before Bush called it off.
