Over in the GEFL, I have a player (first round draft pick) who has just completed his rookie year, starting almost every game. My scout rates him a 44/63, but his experience at the position has just turned pink, meaning, of course, that he isn't that far from reaching his full development.

This I perceive as bad news, in that it's unlikely he will reach his 63 potential, and will more likely top out at about 48 or something.

But now, here's the question: If I send him to Summer League, will he only fulfill that measly 48 rating, or is there a possibility he'll get a biggger jump in ratings at Summer League than he would have gotten just finishing his experience gain in regular games?

Is it a waste to send him to Summer, knowing that he'll only gain about 4 points? Or is there a possibility that Summer league play may give him a ratings boost that actually exceeds his masked ceiling?

Thoughts?

Thoughts? There is a possibility, but it is pretty rare (from what I've seen, I'd guess that less than one in 100 players get a boost beyond core real ratings). I'd say if you have any other player who could use the experience boost (and will get playing time), send him.

If you think he's only going to get to 48, summer league will 90% likely just get him there faster. Nothing is for sure in FOF, but I would probably send someone else if I were in your shoes.

I've never noticed any advancement of experience with Summer League anyway. I just send my players to the Legue Etrangere because it's good for the image of FOF abroad. Along with Scouts, it's the biggest waste of screen space in the game, IMO.

Another thing that's supposed to happen sometimes is that the player gets injured in Summer League. I've never seen that either.

For example, 22 of the 32 players sent recently in IHOF (http://www.fof-ihof.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21225) gained at least a point. To see it, check the change between FA1:1 and the Pre-TC stage.

I guess part of the problem was I didn't know when to expect the change (I normally looked at post camp, which made me skeptical). I'll pay more attention to that in the future.
