Blood 'n Guts Football (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com), a retro-fictional league starting the 1967 season (our 2nd) has a few openings, including both the Bowl champions and the team they defeated in the big game.

BnG is a fictional league set in the 1960s. We began with a full allocation draft so the teams were drafted from scratch. Obviously some did better than others.

The league was "designed" to have four AI teams (we currently have eight as a few GMs dropped out during the season). I planned on having AI teams for the simple reason that it provides new GMs a choice when a team comes open - instead of 1 team, you'd have 5 to choose from.

The available teams are:
San Angelo Colts (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=12), 4-12 in 1966 (drafted by a human GM)
Springfield Rifles (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=29), 6-10 (AI drafted)
Providence Gems (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=15), 14-2 (AI drafted and winners of our first championship)
Alexandria Pharoahs (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=27), 11-5 (human drafted)
Colorado Springs Condors (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=0), 6-10 (human drafted)
Corpus Christi Inquisitors (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=11), 13-3 (AI drafted, lost to Providence in the title game)
Salt Lake City Templars (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=31), 10-6 (AI drafted, human GM not got set up)
Richmond Aviators (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=1), 3-13 (started as AI, drafted finished by a human GM)

Staff Hiring I will take place on Monday. If you take a team you can, if possible within the sim (and within league rules - we're a "mid-market" league, no LA, NY, Chicago, etc.), move it.

We use TCY to run a college league alongside the BnG league. However, the draft classes are hand-built based on TCY's stats rather than exported out of TCY to avoid the "too much talent" problem. The talent levels are based on Jim's recommended spread, so the league's talent-level should remain as it should be.

Check out the site & poke around. Look over the college stuff to see how that looks, peruse the statistical database (thanks to jdavidbakr for that one!) and if you feel like you'd like to give BnG a try, you can PM me here or sign up and PM 'commish' on the BnG forum.

Thanks!
Joe

Alexandria Pharoahs (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=27), 11-5 (human drafted)
Salt Lake City Templars (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_team.php?id=31), 10-6 (AI drafted, human GM not got set up)

Springfield is off the board.

http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/images/stories/playerimages/bng_66_garner.jpgMeet Mack Garner of Flint (http://bloodnguts.legendsport.com/fof_database/show_player.php?id=16). This guy needs a new GM. Quite a player to build a team around - here are his 1966 stats at WR: 125 catches for 2438 yards and 20 touchdowns. What can he do for an encore in 1967?

Just about to enter Late FA. Still have the openings listed above. We've got a strong core of GMs and a good league concept with plenty of bells & whistles, just looking to round out with a few more solid people.

Just a bump for BnG. Training Camp is tomorrow, still time to get in before the 1967 games begin...

I'll be posting the College Top 10 Preview as well later today if you'd like to see how the collegiate season shapes up and which players will be the BnG stars of tomorrow.

Here's a snippet of the Collegiate Preseason Top 10 Report I just posted on the TBC site. I try to give the flavor of the college program, while outlining who the seniors are, so guys can follow them as they lead into the next draft:

Top 10 College Preseason Outlook

#1 Penn State - The Nittany Lions had a disappointing finish to their 1966 season, dropping three straight after starting 9-0. This year's squad enters the season ranked #1 overall, a sign that great expectations remain in Happy Valley. Senior Allen Marston is the starting quarterback this year. The team loves his arm strength, and his ability to throw the deep route is an improvement over the departed Ellis Brandt, but it remains to be seen whether Marston can be as efficient as Brandt. He completed just 49.2 of his passes last season and Allen Crum is waiting in the wings. The strength of the offense is the ground game where Redshirt-senior lead back C.J. Jordan looks to improve on a season in which he carried 197 times for 938 yards and 8 TDs. With fifth-year seniors Bob Buckman and O.J. Oldaker also capable, stopping the Lions' ground attack will be no easy task. Other stars for the Nittany Lions include tackle Devin Briggs (Jr), cornerback Tyrus Brewer (Jr), safety Bob Burns (Jr) and fullback Deon Farrell (Sr).

#2 Brown - The Ivy League power which lost the National Title Game to Virginia Tech in January, comes into 1967 fully loaded for another run at glory. Junior safety Mel Caldwell anchors a defense that will be stingy, with potential All-Americans at middle linebacker (Senior Darrell Bosse), defensive tackle (Senior Darnell Farrell) and defensive end (soph Heath Blair). Senior back Randy Loseby has received some Heisman buzz and will get the lions' share of the carries for the Brown offense. Quarterback is a question mark. K.C. Czajkowski has gone to the professional ranks and replacing him will be difficult. Emmitt Benton is the leading candidate - a fifth-year senior who has been impressive in spot action in previous seasons, there are concerns about his ability to throw the short and intermediate "touch" passes that are the bread-and-butter of the Brown attack.

#3 Michigan - The Wolverines look to improve on last season's #6-ranked, 10-2 finish and enter the season ranked at #3. With the nation's leading linebacker in senior Roman Phillips and run-stopping tackle Cary Dugas (Sr), the defense will be hungry and ferocious. A pair of big seniors anchor the offensive line in center Harvey Vallance and guard Joey Reeves. The tackles are a question mark and their play could have a large impact on how the Wolverines campaign goes. Rod Wiggins returns for his senior season at QB, hoping to improve on the timing issues he had with the receiving corps in '66. Among those receivers, junior wideout Jonathan Chambers has generated a lot of buzz with his great hands, though he has a reputation for being afraid to go across the middle of the field.

Lest you think we only concentrate on the college game, here's an article on Flint's Mack Garner, the best receiver (maybe best player, period) in the league. And oh yeah, his team's available (hint, hint):

FLINT'S GARNER AN AERIAL ARTIST

Flint wide receiver Mack Garner had a season for the ages in 1966. The fifth-year man out of Florida State was the franchise's first pick in the allocation draft and the team couldn't have gotten anything more out of Garner. Garner's 1966 season was the most dominating individual performance by any player in the entire league; only the fact that his team struggled overall kept him from receiving the nod as the Player of the Year.

Garner recorded 125 receptions for a staggering 2438 yards and 20 touchdowns. Targeted 209 times overall - 32.9 percent of all passes by Flint quarterbacks - Garner dropped only 5 passes and piled up 694 yards after the catch. Garner recorded 14, that's right: 14 - mentions for Player of the Week, led the league in receptions by 27 and in yards by 917 to set himself so far above every other receiver as to make them all look pedestrian in comparison.
