Well, technically it's still week 1, so not too late.

Here is the link, csv file is included so edit to your hearts intent.

Any issues, let me know. Haven't played around with it too much, so I'm sure there's a few things.

Quick question about this set...

Not using the "X-Factor" I did 10 test leagues with the Browns where the computer controls everything. I'm getting very mixed results. I've seen the Browns go under .500 6 of 10 times (once 3-13), have gone 12-4 2 times, 10-6 twice. I'm more concerned about individual players. Derek Anderson's ratings and stats fluctuate dramatically. Some seasons he was cut before the season starts and other season I saw that he had a pro-bowl year. Without the X-Factor this shouldn't happened, right?

There is always an element of "X-Factor" applied to the rosters.

Sean Mahan (C/G) is no longer a Steeler...he was traded to the Bucs just before the season started.

The big problem I saw was about 8-10 teams are in salary cap hell and release a bunch of players when you start with this set. Some of the players were too good to be released, IMO.

Also, TE Ben Utecht is on the Colts -- but he's now a Bengal IRL.

Make the changes in the csv file to suit your liking....That is why it is there.

Nildor spends HOURS and HOURS of his own time, and not much thanks....

Nice....

How come it wont work in FOF 2007?

Did you unzip the file?

Also I'll take a look at the salary cap stuff, I think a couple teams are just really talented so it's really jacked up their cap number.

I had to delete column BZ then this work just fine with FOF 2004 :)

thanks man!

Monkeyed with the salary structure a little bit, should see less teams cutting decent players, other than that didn't make any changes and don't really plan on making anymore, enjoy! Thanks for all the positive comments.

How do you use this file for new league creation?

I checked the file at rapidshare, there's a .fdt and a .csv file in there, so you may be looking in the wrong spot.

How do you use this file for new league creation?

Extract the file somewhere on your computer, when starting a new game make sure the use alternate player file option is turned on, when prompted select the 2008.fdt file

Thanks for all the hard work and effort Nilodor. Could someone provide with a guide on how to modify the file using excel so it'll be usable in the game. I tried but when I load the fdt file it's got commas surrounding every players name. If anyone who could provide me with a step by step guide or point me to a link that will help me I'd be eternally grateful.

So, I was looking at the rosters, and they seem pretty sound overall. A few guys on the wrong teams, but I'm willing to fix that myself. I know how to load up the CSV, and how to switch the team they're on...question now is, once I get that all done and saved...now what? How do I get the changed csv file converted in to something I can use in the game?

Ok to edit the roster file (question above yours), open up 2008.csv in excel, you should see players names, and a whole bunch of numbers. To find out what all of the columns mean, you need to go into your FOF2007 directory and look for an exe, something like playereditor.exe or something close to that. Open that up, the first button you see will say information about the csv file, in there it tells you what all of the columns mean, and what are valid ratings for each field. When you are done editing you use the same exe to convert the file to a fdt file. Enter the start year and the salary cap (for reference I used 1215) then click the button that says convert or create a new roster file, locate the .csv and you should have a new roster file to use.

Awesome! Thanks, nilodor. Most of the ratings are perfectly fine (the only one I noticed who still seems to be quite off is David Garrard), and it's pretty much just team fixes to do. Thank you for setting up the file in the first place, though, sir.

Thanks for the info Nilodor, so if I follow those steps I shouldn't get all the commas surrounding the player names when I convert to an fdt file?

And I remember reading that you can only edit a certain amount of players to be above 1 in overall ratings...do you have the specifics regarding that.

Once again thanks for the help.

Again, if you go under the csv file format button in the player file generator you will find a rough guideline for percentages of players for each rating (scroll down to where is says column W - BY)

Yeah, go above those recommended settings, and I've found that everyone's grade tends to go up higher than it normally would be. So, I'll have to go back through and clean that up...must become more critical of player abilities! :D

I wish Matt Ryan would have a higher ceiling though. :(

Thanks for this, I'm running through a full fantasy draft now, very cool to see the current players.

I just selected Pac Man Jones and noticed his nickname is "Freddie". This does not appear to be something that came from the csv file, are nicknames just generated by the game when it imports players?

Nilodor,
Thank you very much! :D

I did add jersey numbers for (almost all) players with overall rating (column W) above 1, according to nfl.com
I also added Vonnie Holiday to the Dolphins, if there is any interest, it can be found here:

(Hope you're cool with this Nilodor - Thanks again for the great file!!)

Here is the one to which I added some jersey numbers

RapidShare Webhosting + Webspace (http://rapidshare.de/files/41621493/2008_mod.csv.html)

but if you install the most recent version of FOF2007 you may be better off as Jim did a great job updating the rosters from what I've seen.

at least if I start the Dolphins (don't play other teams  ) without alternate player then there are Chad Henne, Chad Pennington, etc...

Sorry for the bump almost 4 years later, but...does anyone still have this OR the 2008 default roster from the retail version?

The DL link provided in this topic is offline and the 2008-2009 retail version of FOF 2K7 is not archived on the Wayback Machine, unfortunately!

I'd really like to start a new game from 2008 onwards so I'd REALLY appreciate it if somebody could send me or upload the file discussed in here or (even better) the default players.fdt file from the 6.2 update of FOF 2K7.

Cheers
