So how is it SackAttack? Can't wait to get started playing me some Beatles tomorrow!
Not bad, although I'm a little dismayed to discover that the only microphones I can find in stores around here for the second harmony part are the expensive $50 ones.
I don't wanna harmonize THAT badly.

There's a nice review of it up on IGN by Hilary Goldstein.
Summary is this - if you like the Beatles, you'll love it. If you're not a big Beatles fan, you probably shouldn't bother.

So, here I am, with the Best Buy page open, and the RB:B special edition and stereo CD box set in the cart for store pick up. Trying to decide, do I want to spend $450 on the Beatles today?

That's a gift for the wife. Won't be opened until late October.
You can afford retail prices much easier than you can afford paying me labor for time that detracts from the 11.5 minutes of free time I have per day. So, sure, I'll burn copies, but I'll bill my labor at $5000/hr.

Wow, glad I read that. They have been promoting this game as being able to play with replicas of the Beatles instruments, including John and George's guitars, Paul's bass and Ringo's drums. I have been planning on getting the special edition because it came with all that. Much to my surprise, it does not. Looks like the SE is a ripoff.
The SE comes with: Includes The Beatles: Rock Band software, a Hofner Bass controller, The Beatles branded Rock Band drums, a microphone, a microphone stand and special content.
The value edition comes with: Includes The Beatles: Rock Band software, Rock Band guitar, Rock Band drum kit, microphone, USB hub and guitar strap.
So, for $110 more, you get a microphone stand? And better looking drum/bass controllers? To get all the replica controllers they have been touting you have to spend $450? Wow. That's incredible.

I tried a search but I really can't come up with an answer. How does the 3 mics work for RB-B? Will I need a hub if I don't have wireless mics? If I just wanted to use two mics and I have a wireless guitar/drum will I be able to hook the two mics to the xbox? How do you select the "mic 2" if I only have one xbox controller?
Thanks in advance for anybody that can help!

The value edition comes with a USB hub - I assume thats how the multiple mics work.
Everything I can find says that any instruments from the RB or GH series will work.

Honestly from my experience the only guitars worth getting are the wireless ones, unless you want people pulling out the cords...

I can't seem to find any.
Odd that they have this big marketing push for vocal harmonies (the only real new 'feature' in the game) sell additional, branded instruments, but don't have guaranteed to work, branded, add-on microphones sitting right next to the game box.

One controller handles all three mics, so if you're using wireless guitar and drums, and 2 wired mics, you're all set. The mics never register as actual controllers, so you can have drums, guitar and bass going with a standard controller for all 3 mics.

Wireless Guitar. Wired Drums and mic. Pretty long wires though.

Playing bass while singing "I Am The Walrus" last night was one of my all time fun gaming moments. This really seems more a party pack than anything else (most of the songs didn't look too challenging, though we stayed on medium for now), but if you have any connection to the Beatles it's just a blast.

Check Best Buy or Wal-Mart. Both stores around here have started selling the wireless Microsoft microphones.
I also found a used game store out here that had the wired Rock Band microphone (used, obviously), for $13. So that's another option as well.

Depends on the system, depends on what you mean by 'different game.'
If you're talkin' Wii, it's not cross-game compatible.
PS3/360, sure, should be, as long as the games you're playing are patched and up to date.

I also found a used mic for $9 (@ Gamestop with the Informer card).

Abbey Road is available for download on October 20th, that will let you play the whole side 2 medley.
The rest of Sgt. Pepper is scheduled for November, and Rubber Soul in December.
All You Need is Love was released yesterday. I think the code on the manual will let you download that but not positive.

It was 69.99 for GH:WT plus a free (corded) guitar.

I'm sure the Rock Band fanatics have probably already seen this, but this week they'll be releasing as DLC the entire Jimi Hendrix record Axis: Bold As Love as well as the newly released song "Valleys of Neptune". As a huge Hendrix fan, this makes me very happy and hoping more is coming...

So in anticipation of the release of Green Day: Rock Band, Harmonix has posted an online survey for fans to weigh in on other possible band-dedicated releases for the future. If you have any interest in seeing them pursue a version dedicated to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, U2, The Eagles or Queen, go to the survey and vote. They also have a field where you can write in an additional band you'd like to see them focus on.
Survey is here:

I'm sure there are millions of folk salivating and having fits at the thought of a Pink Floyd Rock Band, but can you imagine sitting on the couch watching your friends play 'Us and Them' for like 20 minutes? Sounds like some new plane of hell.

Right now I have the Abbey Road dlc and Rush's Moving Pictures album and enjoy both of them tremendously.

They're also adding the three-mic capabilities from Beatles Rock Band.
I wanna know how they're going to get the keyboard involved with the other four controller inputs (vocals, guitar, bass, drums). The PS3 won't have an issue, but the 360 might.

Looks like the cymbals will be coded to the same color as the main drums, but with a specialized symbol when you're supposed to hit the cymbal instead?
