Or is the media over reporting this issue?

I personally dont think that there will be much street to street fighting, but you never know. I think the military has already begun to crumble, and would not be surprise to see a total collapse without very much heavy fighting.

Like in all events I think the media is over hyping the event .

Hard to tell on this one. There does seem to be a HUGE lack of coordinated resistance. It would seem to indicate that no orders are being received from Baghdad.

After serving in teh Gulf War and seeing first hand the mass surrender of Iraqi forces. I truly hope that it repeats itself. Nothing would solve this situation better than the Iraqi forces simply tossing in the towel.

I also like what I hear about Rumsfield talking to officials of the Republican Guard, while they aren't as numerous, they are the best trained fighting force iraq has, and would be its staunchest defenders. The fact that they're even discuss things with our leadership gives me a slight hope that serious fighting can be averted and this regime removed within weeks if not days.

Someone mentioned something about people being wrong or crazy to think this would be over in time for memorial day. I actually think the fighting will be done before the end of April, let alone May. We're not going to stop and play this time, our forces have targets and will roll forward until they take them. This won't last months on end. We're simply too powerful for the forces they have left at this point.

There are reports that Saddam may have been seriously injured in the first attack, and that his two sons may have been killed. If this is indeed the case, who's running things on the Iraqi side? Could be why everything has been so ragtag on their end. Also, there are reports that the Republican guard are surrounding Baghdad and that US B-52s are taking off from England to position themselves closer to Iraq. I think we will soon see quite a display of fireworks over Baghdad.
