True story: I have DirecTV but can't receive Local Channels in my area and can't get them off an off-air antenna. I called DirecTV and told them that I saw the banner at the top that said "Every Game Every Sunday". I told the rep that I wanted to watch the Packers/Cowboys game since it was the only game where two 2-0 teams would meet this week. He told me they were playing right now since the TV near him had the game on.
I turned on the TV and it was already on the NFL Channel. It was the NFC Championship game from 1995. Antonio Freeman, Chris Boniol, Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen, Reggie White, Gilbert Brown, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman don't clue you in that this game is not live?
Ed Hocoli is much smaller back then, too....and they have some guy wearing #4 named Favre playing for the Packers....wasn't that at least a month ago?

Okay Eli, Steve Smith has hit his quota for the day. And Kevin Boss too. Now just look Plex.

Carson Palmer looks like a different player from even a year ago. I think mentally this guy is gone.

Anybody got AZ-WAS? I made a couple last minute gut-swaps (Favre for Hasselbeck and Portis instead of Julius Jones)...so, ummm, how does Portis look early?

Agreed, his confidence seems completely shattered. I would say that it goes back to the playoff game when Kimo (from the Steelers and I'm not even going to try and spell the last name) fell on his knee. He has put up numbers but I think he has looked like much less of a stud than he was and now, he just looks lost.

DeTox, what's the rest of your lineup look like for today?
I've got: Favre

So far The Pats looked better, but then got an unfortunate ref call that seemed to destroy their momentum.. Cassell threw an interception and Dolphins drove down the field for the go ahead TD.

Not yet. Although I'm also thinking that Reebok is screwing themselves over with the stance on his jersey because who is going to buy a Johnson jersey anyway knowing that sooner or later it'll be Ocho Cinco. They should bite the bullet and make the change.

The real problem with Brady being out is the strength of the Pats D has been taken away. They could be aggressive knowing that if they made a mistake their offense would bail them out. It's how they've had such great secondaries. Now they're a bit more conservative on D and teams are taking more shots. Seems to be the way to beat them.

Carolina looked very good on defense, and adequate on offense for the first 25 minutes of the game. Minnesota had one solid drive leading to a FG in the first half, then Antoine Winfield blindsides Delhomme, forces a fumble and runs it back for a TD to score 10 points in under a minute to tie the game. Then they drive straight down the field to go up 17-10 on the first drive of the second half.
After ranting all last week about how many penalties Carolina committed pre-snap last week(I want to say it was 6 false starts + an illegal motion penalty vs the Bears), they have committed 4 false start penalties today already vs Minnesota.

comedy of errors in the carolina/minnesota game.
Minnesota has a 3rd and 1 on the Carolina 2. They run for the first(barely), but Minnesota is called for a hold.
On 3rd and 11 form the Carolina 12, a screen pass to Chester Taylor goes for a TD, but Minnesota is called for another hold.
On 3rd and 21 from the Carolina 22, Minnesota doesn't get the first down, but Carolina is called for illegal contact. 1st and 10 Minnesota.
Carolina stops Minnesota on 3 straight plays, MIN lines up for a FG, someone(not sure who yet) calls one of those 'right before the snap' timeouts. Carolina blocks the FG, but wait, they called a timeout apparently right before the snap. MIN gets another shot at the FG.
After all that, Minnesota goes up 20-10 on a 32 yard FG.

Someday they'll change that rule so if a receiver runs straight into a stationary defender, the receiver will get called. That is such B.S. Especially when they missed the PI on the deep throw to Steve Smith, where the defender cut him off and stopped. As a Pats fan who has watched that get blown on us more times than I can count (including costing us a playoff game in Denver), that no-call on an obvious penalty sucked.

I think the expectation is that if Carolina doesn't make the playoffs, Fox is almost certainly getting fired. I don't think this is a team that makes the playoffs, and watching them over the past two seasons, I think Fox should get a lot of the blame for the total lack of discipline, bad play calling, horrible clock, game, and time out management.

For those scoring at home, the Lions have been outscored 56-0 before they score a point in their first three games while facing such powerhouses as Atlanta and San Fran. If there is a worse prepared team in the league, wait, there isn't. Too bad the Ford's won't be embarrassed enough to sell the franchise because the stench goes that deep. Getting rid of the coaching staff and Millen won't even begin to be the cure this team needs considering the Fords are so clueless as to how to build a football franchise that they'll just dump one set of lemmings for another.

Great win by the Giants.
Great game.
Good game indeed. Sucks we blew so many chances. great defense in NY, Palmer started to sihne a bit there though, maybe this is the kick in the ass he needs.
i can agree with that
Yeah that duck shoulda been a pick, I was screaming bloody murder that our safeties are so oblivious. With our secondary so beat to hell I'm impressed with how things went though. Our best corner and safety were both out for this game.
Palmer's O-Line is going to get him killed one of these days.
The sad part is its not really the players, its the scheme. Our O-line coaches blocking scheme has been cracked by every team in the league. I'm still shocked we ever get a pass off on time.
Hell yeah lucky. That pass that Manning threw earlier should have been picked off. They were lucky that they even had a second shot at it. I hate the Bengals, love the result.
Bite me ;)
Overall I'm pissed we lost, 0-3 is not a good way to ever start a season. The defense is really showing me good things. If the offense ever gets off its ass early in a game and gets ahead so the defense can get more aggressive then I think the team can win a few. The defense is young too, I'm hoping they can keep people together for awhile and really let this new defensive scheme kick in. I have to keep remembering that we have a new coordinator this year so its a brand new defensive system.
Palmer and the twins not having any playing time together in the off season should show EVERY team in the league how important the connection between QB and his prime targets is. Next offseason is Palmer doesn't get his recieving corp together for private workouts I'l be shocked.
They looked a LOT better today, the Giants are a damned good football team and they had to play their hardest to win this one. Its a loss, but its a loss we can find a lot of positives in.

The only thing good about this game was that Chris Perry looked pretty nice.
Leon hall is doing quite nicely atually, he eliminated Plax from the game for almost 4 quarters, give the guy a little credit. Carson looked at chad all day, but double a triple coverage on chad means you throw elsewhere, the giants had the advantage of getting pressure with only 3 or 4 guys so they had the extra bodies to shut down Chad and TJ, thats why 83 got so many balls.
I know we're dissapointed, we should have had this game, but lets not get out of control with our mudslinging. We need a new offensive coordinator and lne coach. Brat has had his number called for years now, every team in the league knows his schemes and can stop them. The O-line's blocking schemes are shyte. As much as I like Ghiuchac I think he needs to be replaced, he's just not the line general we need in there. he misses way too many reads.

Cowboys are simply the better team right now. Hopefully the Packers will be able to match-up and play with them better at the end of the year but as of now they are not up to the task. No touchdowns (when it matters) is not going to get the job done, and when we had to settle for FG #3 I knew it was over and I was not happy about it. In Tampa next week, not exactly easy.

Oh, I am not worried a bunch like it may have sounded. I am just admitting that as of right now Dallas is clearly the better team and earned the win. I kind of wish I had some excuse for the Packers, but they just didn't play well enough. (A good excuse would have been all the DB injuries before and during the game, but wouldn't you know the Cowboys beat us with the run and defense more then the pass)
One thing I am hoping for, though not counting on, is when DT Justin Herrold (or whatever the first round pick from last year is named) comes back after week 6 sometime. If the guy can stay healthy for a bit he has a chance to help against the run, maybe. I don't like seeing our D getting run on so much. Peterson in week 1 and Barber/Jones this week though is going to test any run defense I guess.

Oh, I heard on the radio today that Romo is 13-2 for his career on the road. I find that record simply amazing...

How about we find a way to combine teams so we have a stud RB and WR .. And that's it.
You're on to something!! I like it!!!

You would give up a team that has won a Super Bowl recently for the Lions? You've been drinking today haven't you?
That was sooo 2000...

Dola-
JOHNNIE LEE! JOHNNIE LEE! JOHNNIE LEE! :D
Too bad they couldn't hang on for the win.
I saw the actual play a little while ago...what a dick move with the jogging in. Come on, Johnnie Lee, you're better than that.

I find Pennington's passes to slow white guys across the middle simply breathtaking.

Ouch. Sounds like Al Harris suffered a ruptured spleen in last night's game.

I just heard on the radio that Romo is 0-2 in the post season AND directly cost his team both games with a late game choke. I found that simply amazing.

dola: I think all the opposing teams have to do is change the calendar in the visting team's locker room to say January whenever the Cowboys are in town. ;)

0-2 in the post season qualifies as amazing? It's not such a big surprise that a QB mistake costs a team a game. After, it's the only player besides the center to get his hands on the ball every play.

It is so cool for the Jets to have no defense and Favre being Favre. Go Bolts.

I am curious why there is all this talk about Farve learning the playbook, while Pennington goes 17 for 20 with the Dolphins yesterday.

People still think the Pats won't win the AFC East?
I hope they think it'll be the Bills who win it then.

John Elway has lost his first two playoff games. He's no good at all!
Man, that Peyton Manning has lost his first three playoff games. He's never going to amount to ANYTHING!!1!!

EagleFan must have been joking. There's no way a Philly fan didn't know Romo blew both games already.

Bears cut Mark Bradley, making the only player left on the Bears from the entire 2005 draft class is...Orton.

Someone from an Ohio team with dirty plays against McGahee? Sounds familiar to me.
