Do special teams plays help with player conditioning? I have an OLB who played 81 preseason special team plays, and 9 regular plays. In game 1 of the regular season, he played 4 regular plays and 29 ST plays. He still has significant seasonal rust. Maybe he has LB position rust, but after playing over 120 plays with over a dozen tackles, I think he should be ready to go.
He is my main gunner and gets almost all of the ST tackles, but doesn't see the field much as an LB. I just want him to be in good condition for ST.
At this rate it'll take, several more games to get in shape. I know different players shake off the rust at different rates, but I've never taken notice of how many plays it takes.
