I think I remember there being some fans of that show around here. I was a big fan of it back in the day. Had taped all episodes but with all VHS cassettes, tried to watch some around the Christmas break last December and the quality was crappy. Was quite happy to read about this 10th anniversary edition of the show to be released on DVD September 30.

You can read more at the following link:
Sports Night DVD news: Press Release for Sports Night - The 10th Anniversary Edition | TVShowsOnDVD.com (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Sports-Night-10th-Anniversary-Edition/9657)

I would have copy/pasted the press release but they have somehow disabled it...

Anyway, here's a link to the amazon.com listing:`
Amazon.com: Sports Night: The Complete Series 10th Anniversary Edition: Peter Krause, Felicity Huffman, Thomas Schlamme: Movies & TV (http://www.amazon.com/Sports-Night-Complete-10th-Anniversary/dp/B001B187BQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1222312633&sr=1-1)

And some highlights about it from amazon:

Product Description
With breakout and memorable performances by Josh Charles (In Treatment), Robert Guillaume (Benson), Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Sabrina Lloyd (Sliders) and Joshua Malina (The West Wing), this was writer/producer Aaron Sorkin's (A Few Good Men , The American President) first television series. And it was director Thomas Schlamme's first collaboration with Sorkin. The pair, who would continue to click brilliantly with The West Wing and Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip, may not have known it at the time, but with Sports Night they defined a new style and raised the bar for all television programs to follow.
Critically acclaimed when it debuted on ABC in 1998, Sports Nigh was an innovative half-hour program about a team of funny, smart and likeable people who put on a daily live sports cable newscast, much like ESPN's SportsCenter. They are a group of consummate professionals whose personal lives operate in apparent chaos, communicating every uncensored thought and feeling through a libretto of witty and honest chatter over the hum of the separate-but-integrated live show-within-the-show.

10th Anniversary Special Features:
*The Show: An in-depth look back at Sports Night with creator/writer Aaron Sorkin, directors Thomas Schlamme and Robert Berlinger, cast members Felicity Huffman, Peter Krause, Josh Charles, Joshua Malina, and Robert Guillaume, Emmy(r) award-winning editor Janet Ashikaga, Emmy(r) award-winning director of photography Peter Smokler, producer John Amodeo, and set designer Thomas Azzari. Includes never-before-seen behind-the-scenes home movies shot by John Amodeo.
*Face Off: ESPN's SportsCenter vs. CSC's Sports Night - Sports Night's real-life ESPN counterparts discuss what the series got right and wrong.
*A Conversation with Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme
*Inside The Locker Room - A look at the innovations of Sports Night with Aaron Sorkin, Thomas Schlamme, Robert Berlinger, Janet Ashikaga, Peter Smokler, John Amodeo, and Thomas Azzari.

Awesome. I've been putting off getting the DVD currently in release and now it seems like that was a good idea. Shout! Factory is awesome.

Wonder what eps will have commentaries. Eli's Coming, Sword of Orion, Hungry and the Hunted are some of my faves.

That show was amazing. I sadly don't think I can justify buying it, since I spent around $50 the day it came out on DVD.

Still, this show deserves a lot of praise. It's sad looking back at great shows that get canceled too soon and this definitely one of them.

Hopefully 30 Rock can stay on the air for at least 5 more years :)

I can't believe it has been 10 years. 30 Rock is a lot like it. Lots of critical acclaim, but not many viewers.

I also put off getting the original DVDs for a while, especially when I read that some of them were skipping.

Regarding which episodes will have commentary, they do list the disks' contents on the product page of amazon.ca:
Amazon.ca: Sports Night: The Complete Series 10th Anniversary Edition: DVD (http://www.amazon.ca/Sports-Night-Complete-10th-Anniversary/dp/B001B187BQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1222343654&sr=8-1)

Silly little trivia, I used to have a tiny little website with a collection of Sports Night quotes. :)

dola, and Joshua Malina was a regular visitor of that website. I exchanged emails with him a few times, even asking for a Sports Night cap that he signed and sent me. :)

Great, great show. Well, a season of great show and then another third to half of a season of great show. A lot of the stuff in the middle of the second season is just not up to the standard of the rest as it gets bogged down on stupid, stupid subplots. That said, I wish it had lasted more seasons.

One of my favorites and I already own the old DVD set.

Here’s a pretty wild collection of talent: Greg Mottola, director of Superbad, Adventureland and Paul, will direct the new HBO pilot that Aaron Sorkin is assembling starring Jeff Daniels as a new cable network political commentator.

Variety reports the hire, and says that the show, which is currently untitled, “examines the behind-the-scenes look at a cable news network with Jeff Daniels in negotiations to star as the host of his own political show who, from the network perspective, can be difficult to handle.” Aaron Sorkin reportedly shadowed existing cable news stars like Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews to chart how their days work.

That looks really interesting.

I keep hoping they'll throw SportsNight on instant over at Netflix.
