Since we've been hitting a lot religious/non-religious/sacrilegious/sacrilicious topics recently, I figured, "Hey Kodos -- why not a poll on reincarnation?" It sounded fun, so here it is. Responses will be private so people are free to answer without fear of ridicule.

pitch black silence for eternity (ain't that demoralizing)

Words are so very, unnecessary.

That actually sounds incredibly nice some days.

I don't know why the end of one's existence is so terrying to humans. Do people really want to hang around forever? Not me. Eternal life doesn't sound particulary appealing to me, either the good version or the bad version.

I would want to live forever, assuming though I never got old.

I know there has to be an afterlife. I just got done talking to my childhood pet through my psychic.

I know there is an afterlife, I just don't know what. I think I tried to explain this logic before but was unsuccessful.

Here goes: Our memories are us right? If you can imagine your life is a timeline, at present you can go backwards and theoretically remember everything that happened before, right? If you die and there's nothing more, there's no more you and your memories are non-existent. By virtue of the fact that you are self-aware of you, this memory right now as you're reading this must remain forever. Thus, after you die there must be some "you" that will remember this moment.

I'm not sure if that explanation is much better. Essentially, you can look forward in the future beyond your death and know that there will be you because there's a you now.

No ghost option?

I love how people are always finding out they were Joan of Arc or Napoleon in former lives... Never once has someone mysteriously recalled intricate details of the third reich or the crucifiction of Jesus of Nazareth.

You give me reincarnation, I give you the Great Spaghetti Monster. Or L. Ron Hubbard, if you prefer.

No afterlife. Get over it. Tell that girl you have a crush on that you have a crush on her. Punch that guy who always annoyed you in the face. Go skydiving. Get all your cliche activites done before it's too late.
