My wife and I are planning a trip to Eastern Tennessee at the end of December.
We are planning a christmas get together with my family who is spread out (Iowa, Missouri, Florida and Washington D.C.) This is a central location.
What i am looking for is a resort with indoor activities (Im guessing winter is cold) and possibly a conference type room to rent for a Christmas celebration.
Hoping to make it memorable as my Mom is getting up in age and is in poor Health. This is probably the last time my whole family gets together.
If you can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please define the target area a little more so we might be more helpful.

The reason I ask is that my wife/the locals refers to the area near Chattanooga where she's from as "east Tennessee". People in the Bristol area (near the Virginia border) could also be considered "eastern Tennessee". BIG difference & a long drive between the two places.

you may want to research facilities in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area

I will see if my wife has any ideas. She's from the tri cities area.my guess wouild be the Martha Washington Inn in Abington VA. WhIch is about 15 miles away from the Bristol area.

What kind of stuff are you looKing to do?

VPI has a good choice as well

I haven't lived around the tri cities in 8 years but I never remember winter being that bad

I live in "east tn"(just north east of Chattanooga), we had one hard winter '93 or so when we had 18" of snow at one time but other than that no.

Weird. My family is doing this exact same thing this Christmas. We've rented a chalet outside of Gatlinburg for the week after Christmas.
