I clicked the icon a full minute before I clicked the new topic button. It still hasn't come up yet. This is awesome. I'm going to keep typing until it gets interrupted and then I will hit Submit New Thread. It could happen at any time, but I suspect this will be a huge wall of text before it actually comes up. Seriously, this is totally worth the upgr

Is this the first time you are running the program? Did you enable the Genius feature? The first time you turn the Genius program on it takes forever.

No. And yes, Genius is enabled, but it was disabled as soon as I got it started this time. Tried it out and found it pretty worthless. Most of my music isn't found in the iTunes store so it is a waste on most of that anyway. Blech, it's just slower overall.

am i anti 'genius' or did they take away the feature that allowed you to choose what file type you want to import as?

Default setting was AAC but I saw no selection for MP3 or WAV.

Odd. Haven't had any problems with iTunes 8, just upgraded to 8.0.1 (minutes ago, so no real run-time with it yet). I will say that when they did iTunes 8, my iPod Nano (3rd gen fatty) stopped having issues sync'ing to my laptop, for which I was grateful.

I still see the option, Edit -> Preferences -> General Tab -> Import Settings... button in the middle of the screen
Options are AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3, WAV

My only problem with 8 so far has been that when I open it, it isn't maximised. Then I ripped a CD, but the settings were different from the last CD I ripped, so I had to redo it. Dammit.

I ran into both of these problems, too. Kind of annoying.
