Brits and Helicoptors dont work well together

Just read about the two british helicoptors collision.

Thats 3 so far in this conflict where helicoptors crashes have caused loss of life.
Is there some kind of curse on the Brits and helicoptors, it happened during the Falklands where we lost a large contingent of SAS, and seems to be happening again this time.

That would be both sad and amazing to see if the plurality/majority of lives lost in this conflict are due to helicopter accidents. I guess that would be a good sign all things considered, though.

That's sad anyway. Losing guys when no one is shooting at them...

DUring GUlf One, didn't we lose more guys to mechanical problems and accidents than we did to enemy fire? Looks like the same might be happening here.

Non-combat airlosses are always a problem. Of the 57,000 deaths in Vietnam, over 10,000 were non combat. Most of those were due to non-combat aircraft loss.

For istance, the US Army suffered 4,666 losses due to aircraft (over ground) loss. 2,182 of those losses were nonhostile in nature.

In fact, more USARMY helicopter passengers died due to nonhostile air accidents than died in combat (734 to 682).

I think the peacetime loss rate for aircraft and crew is reasonably high.
