My first anniversary is approaching fast and I have several ideas about gifts for my wife but more ideas couldn't hurt.

IIRC several of us here got married within a few month span last year. Anyone have something clever or unique?

This is the "paper" anniversary. I created an ANSI (oldschool artform that I have "the" website for, http://sixteencolors.net) of one of our wedding photos, had it printed 4x6, and wrote a note on the back. Nothing major, but she loved it.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The first time I was married, my first anniversary I tried to give all gifts that in someway related to paper. So I bought her tickets to a broadway show, a card, and uhh.. can't remember what else since it was 10 years ago.

My second marriage I was far less romantic I guess and we spent the money on a weekend alone doing stuff in ironically enough Boston.

thats an interesting concept LS.

for now I plan on doing a GC to a spa for a couples massage plus our Boston trip.

FYI - We agreed ahead of time not to get gifts for each other.

I think a spa and the trip to Boston sounds nice. Maybe go a step beyond and actually schedule the Spa trip rather than the GC? That may be hard to do, though.

Not so sure about the first anniversary gifts. I've found that a coupon for a penicillin shot is a fantastic last anniversary gift though.

For our first anniversary, a couple of months ago, we went to Vegas for a week. It was her first trip, so we rented a car, saw a couple of shows, had great meals all week, and relaxed.

Excellent trip that we plan to do again.

My wife asked me to buy her a nice set of pots and pans. She told me where they were. She knew exactly where they were in the store.

I took my wife to a fancy restaurant. We got all dressed up to the nines, got to the place, ordered, and that's when I started to get sick. By the time the food came I could hardly see straight. My wife ate quickly, I didn't touch a thing, and we zipped home where I spent the next 8 hours violating our bathroom in every which way possible.

I don't recommend following my lead.

I like to think of the first anniversary as the office supply anniversary. Kitchen Products Anniversary doesn;t come until later.

This is a good idea. If you are expecting to bowl on light to medium oil, I would suggest the Wrath Dead Flush. My wife averaged around 125 until she bought that bowling ball and got comfortable using it. Now she's got it hitting the pocket with authority, and she actually bowled a 203 this past Sunday. For heavier oil, the Ebonite Complete NV is a good one. It takes a while to adjust to it, and it seems erratic at first, but it's very powerful once you get the hang of it. It does have a tendency to roll out on drier lanes unless you get really good control of it, which I'm still working on.

Oh, and if you don't want to get her a bowling ball, I suggest throwing an alarm clock/radio through her windshield. Wrap a bow around the clock first. She'll flip out when she sees the busted windshield, but when she looks inside and sees the clock, she'll be yours forever, or at least until she figures out how to poison you without leaving evidence.

explain to me how I put up a thread about what to get her?

I made it very clear I have several ideas what to get her and am mearly looking to exchange ideas. If someone has an interesting idea I would gladly incorporate it, but I'm not at a loss for gifts.
