I'm looking for some ideas on house rules that will both provide a challenge and allow me to practice FOF skills to use in my MP leagues. I'd like to learn and practice more with the draft and with renegotiation to maximize value.
I hardly ever have the patience to play and tweak and test and ugh... so here are house rules that I've gathered a little and yet also seem logical to me.
I'm really looking to test myself with cap management but I would obviously like to keep and maintain a strong team at the same time. I don't know if these rules restrain that too much or not. That's where I'm looking for input at.
STAFF
* No hiring new staff until contracts run out.
FRANCHISE TAG
* Only once per player.
* Can't be angry or worse and must have > 0 loyalty.
SUMMER LEAGUE
* Can only be used on Round 4 pick or later. Or an undrafted guy.
RENEGOTIATIONS
* As many cap outs as needed.
* Only three renegotiations per year on players in their last year.
a. They must have started 8 or more games in the year before.
b. Have CUR rating that would place him as a starter.
* Renegotiate at least for requested year. (May offer more)
* Holdouts are exempt.
FREE AGENTS
* Only allowed to sign one highly rated(40+) player during early FA. They must have at least 50% in bonus per year.
money and at least their requested total and year at a flat contract.
* You may sign as many 8+ year players for contracts with no bonus money.
* You may sign any player already on your roster who is asking for a no-bonus deal.
* No one-year deals.
* Only one allowed restricted FA offer. All other RFA's can be signed in late FA.
* Only one offer per player in FA.
* You may only sign rookie FA's only if they were interviewed and at a limit of three.
TRADING
* No trading more than 10 picks up in 1st round.
GAME PLAN
* No changing game plan during the year.
* AI is responsible for depth charts and playing times.
OTHER SETTINGS
* Injuries at 150
* Cap increase range 60 to 90.
* Staff signs draftees.
* You must always have 10% cap space available.
