So, I just put together a new box and I'm pretty sure it has enough power to run Vista (but as someone else put it- the 2 dual core Opterons and 8 GB of memory is probably what Microsoft actually meant to put under "minimum configuration"). I used to use StyleXP for Windows XP to get a nice color scheme and theme and there were some nice web pages with style xp themes.

However, I'm trying to find a good couple of sites for Vista themes and have come up mostly empty. Deviant art is the only site that I've found that has a decent selection but they aren't sorted well and they are still somewhat limited. It kindof surprises me that I can find a billion skins for Firefox but nothing for an OS.

As for what I'm looking for, I'd like a somewhat darker theme to reduce eye strain. However, not gaudy as I'm no 1337 h4x0r and do prefer something tasteful there. Finding this has definitely been a chore.

Anyways, so does anyone know of a well laid out site or three to go look at Vista themes?

I've personally never used / attempted to use any sort of theme with Vista.

I'm a bit interested in this myself... but after having read your brief machine specs, I'm feeling incredibly inadequate and disillusioned with trying these new things on my meager laptop...

I run Vista on my desktop and one of my laptops. I don't use any themes but I had used the Alienware XP theme on my last computer. Personally, I think that MicroSoft's default is good enough.

I tend to use the default color/appearance, though they do have a graphic color one, which is more of a black glassy look.
