Was happy to see this. Any reason why he didn't show up to perform, as is Oscar tradition?

Because he's anti-establishment, man! He's just a white boy struggling to overcome the persecution and racism of a white man's world! Wait...:)

I don't know, really. I suspect he or his business people didn't think he would actually be nominated, so they went forward with tour plans or something like that. I mean, it's not like the Academy has a reputation for being open-minded. :)

He's a little too different to be there. Academy awards and the Grammy's.

Hey they did a live rendition of "Blame Canada" from "South Park" a few years back. That was classic!!! So he would have fit in fine ... he'd have given the censors a fit. :D

Now I'd heard he's not on tour right now and that he just wanted to take some time on his own to rest. Kinda sucks though. I like to think it was a big conspiracy about having some guy lay the "f-bomb" every five minutes.

Heck ... anything would have been better than Michael Moore.

Ya, but South Park's creators liked to see what they could get away with. Eninem probably would have received more flake then he really wanted. He's done well so far in terms of staying out of trouble and negative publicity

Eminem has gone to the Grammy's before (not sure about the most recent awards). I'm sure he didn't think he had a chance at winning, and I'm honestly surprised the academy had the balls to vote for him.

I honestly think he deserved it, even though I hate the guy.

my girl announced after she heard who won: "The Oscars have gone to shit." I politely disagreed.

M&M sucks and I am pissed he won the Oscar. Easy, I agree with your girl.

Micheal Moore is a peice of shit... thats why they boo'ed his fat ass. I wish i could get him alone in a room with a baseball bat for like 10 mins.

But it doesnt surprise me Andy likes him.

I like Michael Moore. Good, Michigan lad, fighting for the rights of the little guy and the underpriveleged. Exposing the seedy underbelly of America and corporate greed for what really is. Good stuff. Quite entertaining, funny, and thought-provoking. Not all of it sound, not all of it right, but much of it is.

His comments at the Oscars sound a bit over-the-top, however. These are emotional times. Like some fella said earlier, people say all sorts of stuff during emotional times.

"Bowling for Columbine" had a lot of good things to say. Some of it was rubbish and the execution terribly flawed, but over all not too bad.

As for Eminen. Good for him. This song in particular was really quite good. Over all, I don't care for his music too much. A bit too into himself, tries too hard to be "controversial," and a bit repetitious, but the man has some talent. Another good, Michigan lad done well.

So much hate. So much anger. 'Tis sad to see.

I thought documentaries were supposed to be non-fiction.

Couldn't agree more. Just wish that he would make more eloquent points. When he goes off on a rant he is making as much of a difference as the people who want to kick his ass for disagreeing with current policies.

As for Eminem winning an Oscar, how sad. What an overrated rapper. I thought we had moved past accepting rap only when being delivered by a white boy. Read his rhymes. They are so weak.

Doesn't he keep getting protested for being too violent and homophobic and misogynyst, etc. all the time?

Personally there are only 4 rappers I would put clearly above Eminem: 2pac, B.I.G., Nas and Mos Def.
