ok i just wiped my hard drive and reinstalled everything yesterday. today i go to install fallout 3 and i get this error "the application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix this problem". what does that mean and how do i fix it. im not a computer wiz so this confuses me. thanks in advance
dola, i tried to install 2 other games and they both worked, just not fallout

It sounds like a patch may be needed for Fallout 3. The message indicates there's a problem with the game as opposed to your machine.
I'd check out the website for Fallout 3 and see if there are any patches that may be needed. That's my guess at least, since the message says "application configuration" instead of "system configuration".

it poped up when i inserted the disk to install, so it wasnt installed. yea i should go to the fallout site and look there. i had it installed and was playing it before i wiped my hd, so i know it can work

Could be and make sure Direct X is updated as well.. although Fallout should install the latest if you don't have it.

Which windows version? XP? You'll probably have to have SP2 loaded first.
