When I got home from the store last night, it was still in the mid 30s. It wasn't anywhere near as cold last night or even this morning when I woke up as it has been the last couple.
I open the blinds to let some light in after I get up, and look at what greets me:

I think it's official, Toto - I'm not in California anymore.

The two biggest weather changes for me when I moved to Mass from Texas was
1) Realizing that it can snow 2 feet and nothing is closed.. you still have to get up and unbury your car somehow and make it to work.. that was a real bummer for me..
2) When I lived in Dallas or Atlanta, we would have that one or two weeks of the year where the weather dipped into the teens for several days.. in the Northeast, it dips that cold for 8-9 straight weeks.
I really hate the weather in the north.. some day when my kids all grow up, I'm moving to a small Caribbean island.

Yes, hurricanes 2-3 times a year are MUCH better than some cold and snow ;)

When you move to that island, save some room for me.
In this area it becomes a bit of a joy when the weather gets up to the teens. The near-zero weather with the negative wind chill gets old really fast.

I'm pretty sure that qualifies as a "dusting" in Wisconsin terms.

Hmmm... Didn't see anything on the Milwaukee news this morning but I saw a car crashed into a barrier with a lot of cops standing around not really paying attention to the motionless person laying on the pavement. Figured he was dead.

Which is why the part of Texas I live in is kind of a hidden gem I guess. We are as far south as Miami, but even counting the Cat. 2 Hurricane we got this year a hurricane only hits here every 40 years or so it seems. Unless one hits next year again, then I am pissed and look like a fool. :D
After a week or so of "cold" weather (got down into the high 40's at night a couple times) we are back to about 80. I have my window open in front of me and can see the Winter Texans playing golf.

That's because once it hits 32 the whole freeway system here turns to ice and we are all doomed because we can't get that stuff of the dang roads.

I'm crazy, not insane.

My truck there turned ten years old in May. That may qualify as "new" in some parts of the Deep South, but not in my book.

Sorry, I ain't got HA's game with the ladies. If I ever knock up a member of the female gender, it will be entirely purposeful.
Not even.
Granted I was surprised too. I didn't even realize snow was in the forecast.
The good news is, I'm driving down to Manitowoc on Wednesday night, and it's supposed to be snow-free Wednesday and Thursday. But they're predicting the snow showers to return on Friday and last through the weekend. Poor, poor, doomed Black Friday shoppers. :D
wait what - when did Sack leave LA?
First week of October we loaded up the cargo van and hit the open road. I signed the lease paperwork on this apartment October 6.

And fall! Don't forget fall!
Fall.. thats the season where trees in my yard proceed to dump all of their leaves, followed by 35 - 45 degree rain for 4 days making it so when things finally dry out, I have to rake up leaves for 6 hours in disgustingly miserable cold wind.. and then repeat it again in two more weeks for the duration of the season?

Alan: You've heard me joke right?
There's leaf peeping season in new England.
Followed by leaf raking season.
Then there's swearing at leaves season.
Then finally, there's "Screw it, I don't care if the grass underneath the leaves die" season.

Sounds right.
Although I don't have to rake, so I can admire the falling leaves and laugh at the poor bastards who do.
Right?

This is just a myth perpetuated by the rake industry.

This has been the story of my recent weeks. I loved having a big tree in front of my house in the summer. When the leaves started to fall, it got so bad that I couldn't tell where the lawn ended and the driveway began, so I raked up everything from the driveway after waiting out rain and allowing drying time. Rinse, repeat every 5 days or so. I can't wait til that darn thing is bald.
