I just did this. The program opens fine, but when you open the roster screen it is too large for the window. The box is too large to move so as to reach the buttons at the bottom of it, to close it out.

Very disappointed, hopefully someone has some insight??

Thats because the resolution on netbooks is smaller than the 1024 x 768 the game requires. To get around this in XP, right click on the desktop, click Properties... Settings... Advanced... Monitor. Uncheck the box that says "Hide modes this monitor can't display". Click ok, then change the screen resolution to 1024 x 768. When you run FOF, you can scroll down by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen.

I'm having the same problem with the large window on the roster screen, but on my netbook it has an option for 1024 x 768, just turn it on and scroll down as needed. I really wish there was some way to mod the roster screen to work with a smaller resolution though.

I think it's kind of funny that people are complaining about the high resolution required by FOF, when the past few years monitor sizes have grown and the average resolution sizes have increased as well.

Netbooks certainly pose a new problem for developers with their emergence.. Personally, I really don't see the point of them but given their sudden popularity, I seem to be a lone with this view.

Yeah it's definitely a strange problem to have to deal with. Installing older games that the netbook can run is no problem, instead the problem is with older games that don't let the user define the resolution - I can still play FOF, the Spiderweb games, etc. but having to constantly scroll up and down may be more than I can stand.

Didn't see this before, but I'd guess the biggest problem you'd have with a netbook is RAM. I have a smallish laptop with 1 GB of RAM and after 50-some seasons, it chugs at times.

How about TCY? Would TCY work on a netbook? I'm thinking about getting one at the start of the summer.

Just bumping this to see if there are any new experiences with a netbook or any clever ways to make FOF a better experience.

I'm considering buying a laptop, and the one of the only things holding me back from getting a netbook is FOF.

Once you change the screen resolution, I've had no problems whatsoever running the game on my Acer netbook.
