I decided to cancel my subscription because I dont like the new format. Or the bi-monthly delivery.
I called the magazine and cancelled my subscription. I asked about a refund and the lady said I would get it in 4-6 weeks. Normal.
I got the check in about 3 weeks. The check was 7 dollars and change. I went to the bank to cash it. Went through the drive through. The bank couldne cash the check because it wasnt signed.
I go back home and call the magazine again. I tell my story to the next lady and she talks to a supervisor. She explains she needs the check back. I dont want to mail a $7 check back so I tell her just to restart my subscription. She happily does and tells me it will restart on Dec. 10. I tear the check up and throw it away.
A few days later, I receive a letter in the mail from TSN. It says they cant restart my subscription without the check.
I call on Saturday and tell my story the guy talks to a supervisor and he doesnt know what to do. The guy tells me they have to talk to a higher up super and will call me on Monday. Of course the call never came and I called back this morning. The lady has to talk to a supervisor. And they deny me. I just helped out a major corporation by donatig 7 dollars and change.
I can hjonestly say I have helped bailout the media in these tight financial times.
I will never subscribe to TSN again.

meh.
I ccan see their side, you could potentilly still cash the check (had you not have torn it up) by forging a sig, and a stop payment would most likely cost them 3x the checks value.

On your end, it sucks but I dont think anyone here is unreasonable.

Next time give me the $7, I'll kick you in the nuts...and we'll call it even.

I remember getting The Sporting News for free. That's all it was worth.

Sue them in small-claims court.

Sounds like a lot of trouble for 7 dollars.

Old school sporting news was the bomb with the stats and box scores and whatnot. The internet pretty much made it obsolete though.

I had that sub for years, just for all the baseball stats. I loved it.

I gave my son a subscription for his birthday last April and he think it's ok. He does like our sports section in the newspaper better. $14 for the whole year wasn't too much to waste. I don't look at it anymore, as I liked it better a few years ago when I had a subscription.

It was a big newspaper with every boxscore for the week. Yep loved it then. Its a shell of its old self.

The Sporting News went downhill when they went to color.

I subscribe to the sporting news online for free. It's like a daily 20 page sportspage. I wouldn't if it cost me anything, but I get an email saying it's ready, and I click on the link.
