Is it better to generate a draft or just let the game do it?

I am in about my sixth season and it seems the game will have a lot of QB, RB, and DEs available after the first few rounds.

Thanks.

I suppose this is a matter of what you're looking for (and I confess I don't really understand your last observation above), but the game-generated draft creation system is designed to create a balanced number of players with a certain mix of skill levels, and I think very few FOFers think they are unbalanced in really any way. Nearly any third party generation system is bound to have imbalances of one sort or another, and some you might not like.

I'd stay stick with the basics (in-game) unless there's something really compelling for you otherwise.

I've always thought that the reason so many QBs, RBs, and DEs were available so late is because of their inflated adjusted grade as opposed to more talented players at "less important" positions who will go before them.

While I was re-learning the game, I only handled the first few picks. After getting more comfortable, I started doing more and more of the interviews. For instance, of the top rated players in my team's last draft, 25 of top 30 were DEs, QBs and RBs.

Junkie I will pay more attention as it is probably more what I do not know.

Thanks for input Quik and Junkie.

Hey, no problem man; people around here were very helpful to me at the start, so...y'know. But take what I say with a boulder of salt, as you'll notice the big fat n00b under my name as well.

If you are sorting by Adjusted Grade, you are right. But that doesn't mean they are really the best players. It's what Draftjunkie said.

dola

I would definitely stick with the game generated drafts.

I will also chime in and say that the game-generated drafts are, in my opinion, one of the best things about FOF.

The FOF draft, in general, is a deeper process than it appears on the surface. One thing that you may want to do is keep track of certain players that look interesting to you in the draft (whether or not they end up on your team) and check in on them after a few years. You may start to notice certain patterns as to what types of players tend to slip through the cracks, and which ones get drafted too early.

(And I am not being cryptic on purpose here. I, personally, do not understand the draft as well as I should and as well as other people here. It really is better to observe things and try to draw your own conclusions. And, of course, post questions and observations here as you see things that interest you.)

save the game before the draftclass comes out. if it looks top heavy in the same areas reload the file and get a new draft class. sometimes the game generates classes that tend to be top heavy in 3-4 positions

2018 Draft: How'd Ya Do? - IHOF Forums (http://www.fof-ihof.com/forums/showthread.php?p=332561#post332561)

This thread from a multiplayer league has lots of insights into drafting from some of the best FOF players around. You'll notice that I have nothing to contribute myself, as the draft is still a great mystery to me. :)
