I was under the impression that outgoing President Bush had only thrown out the first pitch where the Nationals were concerned, but in looking it up, I see he's thrown out the first pitch five times:

Miller Park home opener in 2001 (Brewers v. Dodgers)
Cardinals' home opener in 2004 (Cardinals v. Brewers)
Nationals' home opener in 2005 (Nationals v. Diamondbacks)
Reds' home opener in 2006 (Reds v. Cubs)
Nationals' home opener in 2008 (Nationals v. Braves)

Going back to Reagan, every President threw out the first pitch at least twice for the DC-area 'home' team - prior to GWB, that meant the Orioles.

So my question is - do you guys think President-elect Obama will throw out the first pitch more often for the White Sox or for either the Orioles/Nationals (O's on the off chance that he's just an AL guy)?

Hope he's better at pitching than bowling.

Being a former MLB owner, Dubya made it a practice to throw out first pitches. I wonder if Obama iwll choose to do is as often.

I'm with you 3ric. If Obama bounces one in there, it will be pretty embarassing.

GWB also threw out the first pitch at Game 3 of the WS in NY as part of some post-9/11 festivities.

It was a friggin rope.

Bush only threw one more than Clinton did. They both threw five opening day pitches and Bush threw one in the World Series. Bush was schedule to do another but arrived late and Cheney had to fill in.

The bowling thing was embarrassing. That was probably the biggest mistake his campaign made. But this guy is an athlete -- did you see the three he drained in front of the troops on a military visit? Nothing but net.

I can hit a 3 too. That must make me an athlete. Cool.

I can do a nasty crossover and hit a three in the defender's face. Just ask Cuckoo...

He and Kenny Williams are boys. I suspect he'll make it to the CHI for White Sox pitches, as much as he'll make it to the Nationals home park for their games. He just might be taking in a few Wizards games along the way, as well.
