Maybe the Raiders will pick him up as a backup kicker...

I wondered what happen to Stoitchkov, I see according the the article he was named as one of the worlds best players in 1994 - so 9 years later he is over here, maiming young players.
If that news reaches Europe, he will probably be signing for an Italian team or Arsenal next year, they seem to like thuggish/stupid players.
What a cretin

Maybe he has a future (if he hurries) with the Iraqi army as an interrigator.

Wow, that guy doesnt deserve to play soccer. They should make him attend anger management
Stoichkov has always been a stupid hard playing aggresive player. Please retire him from football.

Ugh, totally uncalled for. I feel so sorry for the AU kid, I'm sure he had no idea what he was in for...

From the article:
"When he was young, Stoitchhkov was issued a lifetime ban after a brawl during the Bulgarian Cup final, but the sanction was later lifted."
Good decision, there.

Sad. Grown men really should be able to control their temper better than that.

I was never a fan of Stoitchkov, he's always been a pretty dirty player, but this is unbelievable. I can't believe someone could do something like that, it's horrible. The fact that it was against a COLLEGE kid, not even a real game is just disgusting(not that it isn't either way, but even moreso).

What a asshole! Could someone be anymore stupid? IT'S A GODDAM FRIENDLY! But still, even if it was in the finals of the World Cup, that behavior wouldn't even be close to okay
Poor kid.

As Llerena screamed in pain, Stoitchkov, tears streaming down his face, hovered over the fallen player as he was treated for about 30 minutes before being taken to the hospital. Stoitchkov then sat on the United bench, his face buried in his hands.
Not to condone it, but at least he felt bad for it. If I was in the mood to start a flame war, I'd say something like, "That makes him better than Warren Sapp, at least."
But I'm not starting a flame war, so just ignore that comment. Tough break for the college kid.

I dunno about you, but if my career took the path stoichkov's did, from top flite euro clubs playing in champions league to mls clubs playing friendlies against college clubs.. i'd probably cry too.. Whether or not he was being genuine.. only Stoichkov knows..
Question now is:will there be repurcussions?

This behavior should be untolerable in soccer. He should be met witha 10 game ban by MLS.
