I had it, so close. The touchdown pass through the fingers, the perfect pitch swung at and missed, the penalty shot wide...
The Qwakers as a result of mismanagement have decided to fire owner/GM Qwikshot.
Yep, done, buh-bye, and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out...and somehow I was wondering "how does the owner get fired from his own team?!?!"
But I'm back...

I had already fired a few players, the orignal roster had been eighteen, and I pulled a keeper who was poor in keeper, so I shuffled him off.
I picked up three new guys, welcome:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frédéric Amoudry (10406623)
19 years, passable form, healthy
A popular guy who is tranquil and honest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.
Speciality: Head
Nationality: France
Assessed value: 59 000 US$

Owner: gros spliff club

Stamina: inadequate Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor
Plus: great playmaking skill, young, good passing and defense to build on...decent stamina and form...yeah he's French but I won't hold it against him, seems popular and likable...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ronald MacTier (7672278)
17 years, passable form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is balanced and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.
Nationality: England

Raw young talent, who's not going to ruffle feathers...I paid too much I believe (one will see why with my next acquisition), still a nice grab for a team in need of a goalkeeper
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saphou Supriyadi (8875460)
19 years, passable form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is fiery and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities.

I got this guy for a little over 100k, he looks like he's ready to move up to solid...I was quite happy, again a guy good on cohesion, and if things don't pan out, he'll go back on the market.

Wow- that new defense is rock solid and young, too! If only you had the rest of a team to go around it. Well, you have some good scorers but need some help in the middle.

I'm looking for some cheap passable strikers, but I may hold out, I've spend a good bit of cash, and don't feel like being in debt.
Also if anyone wants a friendly, I'm available...my teams still in the running for a cup too.

Series: V.56 (8429)
Country: USA
Level: 5 out of 6
Team Played Goals Points
1. Inquisition 0 0 - 0 0
2. Mesa Mehados 0 0 - 0 0
3. Ring of Fire 0 0 - 0 0
4. Nationals 0 0 - 0 0
5. Riddle 0 0 - 0 0
6. kiwis 0 0 - 0 0
7. Heavy Metal Superst 0 0 - 0 0
8. Ultra Nox 0 0 - 0 0
Inquisition was relegated from IV, so he's the tapped to be the king of the hill. Looks to have a tough winger, but not much else, it's a new team only a week or two older than mine. He's got some high value guys but most are on the wrong side of 25 and older.
Mesa Mehados, this is a team on the rise, played three seasons in this division gone from 8 to 6 to 2. 7 players have values over $120,000, with a few (4 ot 5) valued better than 50,000. This is a dangerous team, but it looks like they have health issues, money issues. They're young.
Ring of Fire, been a contender for 3 seasons in a row, some high valued players, and it seems to be active on the transfer market enough to have generated cash. Lot of old guys on this team.
Nationals are a relegated team from Div IV as well (few seasons earlier). I think they're still tough. 2 seasons here in V.56. Another team that may be tight on cash, maybe not. His top valued guy is worth 618,000 dollars 4 guys valued over 200,000, and 2 guys at 100,000 or better. Older team, another nightmare to play I would assume.
Riddle, 2 season vet, 5 guys valued over 100k. Only finished 5th last season, poor tactics, or tough division, you decide (I guess you could say its a riddle (enter snare drum))
kiwis have been around awhile, shuffled between IV and V. It's 2nd season starting in V.56. Lotsa cash here, almost 30 players, plus one valued at 750k+!!! 8 guys total over 100k, 3 over 200k...but they're old. Another scary team..
Heavy Metal Superstars are two seaons vets...6 players valued over 100k, 2 at 200k. This is may be the weakest opponent I face in the division!?!?
Then us, Ultra Nox...we don't look so tough now, I'll need those 3 solid defenders and the one passable.

With 3 solid defenders I would run the 5-4-1, but if you sell one of those guys (which you probably should) then the 4-5-1 makes the most sense.

Here's a question, say I go with a 5-4-1, or even a 4-5-1, do I make Narcisco my starting striker, his weak form had him knocked out on the myteam results, but I'd start him over the inadequates and Vinnie Parr and Matt Atkinson are the other two I would consider but Atkinson has no stamina whatsover (he may find his way on the waiver wire).
As for the debt I have two passable keeps, and I'll probably sell one sooner or later.
I'm going to train in general to get forms up as some of these guys are in bad shape, I may do stamina as well.
Anyone need a friendly?
DataKing
03-27-2003, 04:08 PM
Stamina training is highly recommended, especially now during the off-season. Players do not need to play in a match in order to receive the training. You may want to consider switching to that before training hits tonight at 8:30pm central time. Stamina training can do some damage to form, but will help your second-half possession rate immensely.
I run a 5-4-1 formation in friendly matches, and speaking from experience, it is very difficult to generate offense out of this formation. That's fine for friendly matches, but I have yet to see anyone succeed with the 5-4-1 in competitive play.
And as far as friendly matches go, no one should be in need of one right now. The U.S.A. Cup opens play next Wednesday, when friendlies are normally played. National cup play is done in place of friendly matches, and you aren't elligible for friendly matches until you have been knocked out of the cup.
I hope this helps.

Leave it to a veteren to put a rookie right...thank DK. Stamina would be a nice thing.
DataKing
03-27-2003, 04:19 PM
It's just that this is a golden opportunity for some extra training. Since you haven't played a match yet, your players wouldn't benefit from any other sort of training (except for set pieces).
Qwikshot
03-27-2003, 04:23 PM
At least I know set pieces is pretty much worthless, plus I got a starter with a solid...staminia is fine, I just did the change...I know my solid defenders seem to be lacking in stamina anyway...
DK question, would you put the best player in his position regardless of form, or would you weigh form heavier than skill...as in my forwards case. I think I'd be bonkers not to start Narcisco.
daedalus
03-27-2003, 04:35 PM
These are purely opinions thrown out as food for thoughts. Just keep in mind that, y'know, unlike DK, Ardent, Horned and Ravenhawk, I wasn't exactly fighting for my serie title and I'm STILL in obscene debt. Heh.
I wouldn't touch 5-4-1 in a regular match unless you're really adventurous. Playing 4 middies in Hattrick's engine puts you in an incredible bind to start with. Add to that the fact that a shutout loss is more detrimental to your supporters' mindset than a non-shutout and you're playing with fire.
Of your three solid defenders (lucky bugger), the one I'd look at for the market would be Brinkley. Having solid passing is nice but it likely adds quite a bit to his salary for little or no gain. On the other hand, if you intend to spend a season or so training playmaking and follow it up with some intensive stamina training, you may have a darn impressive midfielder on your hand. [Note: I wouldn't put him in midfield right now with his stamina.]
The other two have inadequate stamina and should be able to bump up to passable without much difficulties. Additionally, with an inadequate winger skill, Noe should have little problem playing wingback, giving you some insane defense on that wing. [If you play an asymmetric 3-5-2, he could cover Burnett's side.] Muñoz is an alternative for the other fullback slot [if you go with a symmetric 3-5-2 or a 4-5-1]. On the other hand, if you intend to train playmaking, I'd play him on the wing to see if I can get a bump there first.
Schulz, Parr and Amoudry gives you a credible beginning of a midfield to begin with and that's definitely a nice start with that defense and the options you have at forward.
daedalus
03-27-2003, 04:41 PM
I wouldn't exactly say set piece is 'worthless'. If you have a good forward with good set piece ratings as your set piece taker, you have extra chances to have him score. And, of course, if he's good then he'll be scoring normally regardless. They add up. I wouldn't mind those serie leading scorer bonus. [Of course, I'd have to have good players BEFORE I can think about that . . . alas, horse, cart and the order they go in.] A defender with good set piece should also be of help in set piece situation [corners, free-kicks].

Thank you for the input...when I was referring to set pieces as worthless I simply meant I had no point in training it because I had a few players at solid or passable with it...stamina would be more vital.
I'd love to go with a 3-5-2 but as of now I have no serious contenders for the striker spot outside of Narcisco (Atkinson, Parr or even Deloach would round up the others with scoring skill)
When you speak of an asymetricl 3-5-2 does that mean one player is "toward the mid"?

Incidentally, there must be a lot of firepower in this league as my prior team lost at 8-0, 5-0, and 8-0 before being "sold". No wonder they gave me a bunch of defenders.
If I sold Brinkly (or any solid defender for that matter) what would be the going rate?

That is a very good question, one that I have been wondering myself since I am training defenders and will be hopefully selling some solids in the future....I have seen them going lately for around 100k...a 23 year old the price would drop a little...so I would assume you coudl get atleast 80k...but I could also be dead wrong, you might want to get conformation from one of the vets around here.

One of the nicest things about set pieces I have found is when you combine it with a head specialist. My set pieces taker, Johannes Henriksson, is solid, and Arlen Lucas, a starting wingback for SSFC, is a head specialist. Lucas scored four header goals this season. Four goals from a wingback is nice.
Regarding 'Symmetrical' vs. 'Asymmetrical' 3-5-2.
Symmetrical: Replace one central defender with inner midfielder.
Asymmetrical: replace one wingback with inner midfielder.
Asymmetrical can be nice if your opponent always loads his attack to the same side, but is extremely dangerous if they switch things up on you. Your defense will likely be a lot weaker on the side without a wingback. (You can compensate, though, by playing a central defender towards the wing, or the winger on that side defensive).
As far as solid defenders go, Brinkley would probably sell for somewhere in the neighborhood of $150,000, perhaps a little less. The earlier in the season you sell, the better.

Either Atkinson or DeLoach should work at the "other" forward spot. I'd be tempted to go with Atkinson, m'self. Parr, of course, is certainly an option but he's also one of your better option in the midfield.

you asked about form earlier, there is one comment in the rules regarding form. I don't remember it exactly but it says something like, an "Excellent" player in "wretched" form is worse off than a "Passable" player in "Solid" form. I just looked it up and that is the exact comparision. That's the only benchmark I have, I haven't been at it very long.

My general rule of thumb with form. One rank of skill == two ranks of form. IE I'd play a passable over a solid if the passable was at passable form, and the solid was at weak form.
Secondary skills alter this, of course, but it's a fairly good estimate.
And if you have a player < weak (4) form, in my opinion, he shouldn't be played in a league/cup game at all. Players in poor/wretched/disastrous form flat out SUCK. Weak ain't great, but if you must play him, you must.

Seeing that I was weak still at wing, wingback, and mid I went out and made the last two purchases of my shopping spree...both are older, from Thailand and both are even from the same team...

The good cop to Choochai's bad cop. He's got the makings of a central defender but that spot's been taken, he can play inner mid for me anytime with that form and with that stamina he'll be nice next to my Frenchman.

That's it on the waiver wire for now, I figure I'm now about 100k in debt but I've bought 5 solid players who will help the team...a few for the future and a few for now.
Any further suggestions let me know, but I'm in a holding pattern with buying and selling till after the first cup, then I'll figure if I want to sell off any of my high priced commodities...I see young 20 something defenders going from anywhere from 180 to 300k!!! So I'm quite pleased.

If I was playing a symmetric 3-5-2 with your team, I'd go with Rochana-Sousa-Noe across the back with the two wingbacks playing defensively. At midfield, I'd look at Muñoz-Parr-Amoudry-Kasemchai-Deloach with the two wingers playing offensively. Noe's strong defense should help make up for the failings on Deloach's side. Up front, of course, Saura and Schulz should provide plenty of offense. Though I'd consider playing Schulz as midfield in friendlies if you're training playmaking to see if he'll make any move to passable. Neff would be an option to replace Deloach, if his form moves up from hideous but I'd keep an eye out for a cheap and trainable (17-18YO, passable wing/weak or inadequate playmaking) long term replacement for them. This, obviously, is based on the premise that Brinkley would be used to restock the bank account. Given that Supriyadi seems so ready to pop, it may be worth it to give him a couple of weeks training to see if he'll go into solid (unless, of course, the Gods of Hattrick bless you with a pop while training form - in which case, I'd be forced to dislike you) where you could decide between keeping him as a solid or refreshing the books again with what a solid 19YO keeper can bring in and going with a passable. These, of course, be merely one person's opinion. So, y'know, grain o' salt, mileage variations and all that.

Okay, I did some overspending...this is what happens when you eye up a talented Italian mid who would solidfy your 3-5-2 only to lose him at the last minute (I was eyeing other prospects forget to check back, and poof, gone).
I take it out on my economy by buying...instead of looking before you leap...
Off to the waiver wire...
Selling
Narciso Saura 3/31/2003 at 19:16 0.0 US$
I have him at 97000 which is cheap for a pass/pass forward, but his weak form is a big concern, he's 25 he's got nowhere to go but down, so I figure get out while the getting is good.
Bartlomiej Zabawa 3/31/2003 at 18:45 0.0 US$
This was my mistake bid...I grabbed him for 60,000 something, he's 18, passable striker, poor passing, he's got unpredicatable...If he doesn't get bought, I'll keep him.
Curtis Deloach 3/31/2003 at 18:28 0.0 US$
He's too old to be of any importance than a backup, I figure I can grab someone younger and cheaper to ride the bench.
Nathan Pena 3/31/2003 at 18:27 0.0 US$
Same with Pena, I just don't see wasting the time improving someone old.
Matt Atkinson 3/31/2003 at 18:26 0.0 US$
I belive he's 24, with an inadequate def rating, someone might grab him.
Ernest Brinkley 3/31/2003 at 17:20 0.0 US$
The golden goose...I'm shipping him off for over 200,000k. Someone might bite, if not, he'll go off for a little less, either way, he's leaving this team.

Perhaps this is the reason why I have a bad taste in my mouth purchasing Bart Zabawa. I got this Scotsman for cheap, he's already but some goals in the basket and he's not far from being made into a mediocre mid, or an offensive defender.

For Team Captain.
Multiply player experience by leadership rating. That's your best captain. Common belief is experience matters more than leadership (for the CAPTAIN), but I just multiply em.

.....I'm just curious why you think he might be an offesnive defender. The hattrick rules stuff says that scoring is only important for forwards, so the only relevent stats as a central defender would be stamina and defense. With high stamina, a defender can go forward and not get tired, but his scoring rating is useless. With poor winger also, I think this guy needs to play up front, or hit the road.

Thanks Rob...
myteam actually put him at a wingback position in a trad 4-4-2, I think because my team's form is so bad.
I would train him for defense, or playmaking...I think I referring to Narciso but he's too old for training...still if I had to choose being paying 60,000 for an 18 year, or 17000 for an 18 year old with same capabilities, which would I choose...
Thanks CW about captains...

The relevant rating for an offensive defender would be playmaking (consider: a defender moving up one "portion" on the field up to midfield where playmaking is the important position), not scoring.

Last transaction before the selling starts...
I felt that Vinnie Parr would be the fly in the ointment, with the poor stamina and being 28, he just wasn't good on this team to be a starter...I scanned the waiverwire for something more palatable and wound up with a nice prospect who can start.

I got him for 10k, which isn't bad...he's excellent in stamina and more of a defensive mid, but he's better than Vinnie who will ride the bench, and if sales go well, he'll join some other team, if sales are bad, I'll sell him cheap, if no one wants, he goes bye-bye.
He replaces Vinnie in the lineup...a strong team in the mid, at least with stamina. I'm in debt again, but if my sales even if it's just Brinkley being sold, I'll be back on top and won't have to tinker save for injuries.
Quite happy now...I added two more assistant coaches, and one psychologist, I also grabbed a doc since I'm putting training at 100%, I have a feeling I'll get an injury bug sooner or later.
I'll hired an economist...fire payment will be a bitch.

section 13 of the hattrick rules talks about the player statistics and what effects they have on individual positions. Stamina is most important for midfielders.....but also for defensive forwards and offensive defenders
midfield (playmaking) - .....needs good playmakers in the midfield, especially in the inner positions.... says nothing about offensive defensemen, or defensive forwards for that matter.
of course you can read the other items, and there are other sites that mentioned in the google other threads we have here that breakdown the contributions, but the only skills that affect defenders are defending, stamina, and winger for wingbacks. Anything above disastrous in the other positions is just salary overhead

Section 13 of the Hattrick Rules also talks about Individual order and their effect:
Central defender, Offensive: A certain amount of Midfield, less Defending
Given that said defender would be devoting some attention to Midfield play at the expense of Defensive play, one would think that the rating relevant to the aforementioned Midfield play would come into effect. I could be completely out of my mind on this, but as far as I can tell the rating that is relevant to Midfield play would be . . . playmaking. Of course, if I'm wrong on this then I've completely screwed the pooch and my team is assfucked from here to Sunday since I've mainly centred my team around midfield play. If I am, of course, please do let me know so I can arrange to buy some lube pronto.
Back to the point, of course, give that the comment was made in reference to Q's thought on making Grewar an offensive defender, for now I'll have to stand by my previous point: the relevant rating for for an offensive defender would be playmaking and not scoring. [Yes, given that it is a defender position, obviously defense is the first relevant rating.]
And, yes, I am aware that non-relevant ratings would be mere salary overhead. If you look at my post above, you will notice that I suggested Brinkley as the defender to sell since his solid passing skill would be salary overhead.
Qwikshot
03-28-2003, 10:46 PM
I was merely stating that Grewar could be an offensive defender, simply on the grounds that he was put on defense by mybestteam. His playmaking is weak right now, but if he played friendlies at mid, it would go up, thus an offensive mid (inadequate isn't so bad).
I'm happy with my team, I took daedalus' advice and Brinkley is on the market...
If any of my players goes down, the bench is a little iffy, save forward, as Schulz is also a future star. Narciso is in bad form and didn't even crack the bench.

I saw what you (dadelus) wrote a little while after I made my post, and after scratching my head (ass) for a little while, I decided to go have some beers and wait for the inevitable response. Obviously it is not nearly so obvious, even if I am right, which I happily concede I might not be now.
That said, I went back and found something else under the training section, where training playmaking trains Inner Midfielders, (Wingers) and ((Others)), so apparently even the non mids get a bit of training. I don't know that that means much but in the spirit of full disclosure.....
If you look at the player evaluators from HAM (I think) and the new free one just released that I don't remember the name of but has been talked about on here, there is no contribution from playmaking in the defenders composite rating. So, what I think happens is that an offensive defender contributes to the teams midfield rating, and detracts from the defensive rating to some degree based on stamina, without the midfield increase being dependent on the playmaking rating.
I could still be talking out of my ass though, so I apologize for my previous high and mightyish attitude above. Maybe someone more in tune with conference boards or feds or something could ask someone who might actually know?

There is a website called the ABCs of Tactics (I believe you can get to it via hattrick) which explains everything. I think the answer may be there...
Incidently I'm bidding on two more players, I'm concerned because Munoz has a wretched stamina and he's going to be trouble, I'd prefer to stick his passable defense on a wingback position, and have some guy that doesn't tire out hang out at wing...so I'm hoping that Brinkley gets bought.

A nice stopgap till Munoz knows how to not wheeze just walking.
I'm also grabbing another winger (Hattrick willing) in an hour or so for the bargain basement price of 2k. He'll replace Jean Neff.
Right now I'm deep in debt but I'm optimistic that some of my sales will go through in a few days and that will have me at even or better. Sure I'll go into debt even at zero (due to maintenance, salaries, etc...but if I do well enough all season (4th or better) I should have the means to be alright. By then I'll have a decent farm system to sell off prospects).
If worse comes to worse, one of my keepers will go up for some insane cheap price.

I'm about 145k in...I was upset today when I lost out on two solid def with less than minutes to spare. Decided there was no point in spending for rabble anymore...I'm happy with my team, and I'm happy that I can sell just about everyone I've purchased and get a profit back (I made the mistake with the Qwakers to buy players that were mistakes, i.e. lacked form, mids w/o stamina, etc...).

Heh, just give it time. I hit over $350,000 in debt, and have now taken it down to $100,000 in debt. A good half a season or so of training, and you'll have at least a couple solids you can sell for 100k+. Makes debt go away quick.

Wisconsin FC - Ultra Nox 0 - 8
Date: 4/3/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 6820018
Arena: Wisconsin Arena
Crowd: 4079
The crowd of 4079 turning up at Wisconsin Arena today were greeted by some nasty showers of rain. Wisconsin had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Ryan - Skidmore, Morgan, Tapia, Ashton - Guillén, Pierce, Ashby, Rubio - Chestnut, Driscoll.
Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Emilsson - Pulido Quecedo, Quick, Kasemchai, Amoudry, Wolen - Rochana, Grewar.
Some quick foot work on the left side of the field in the 15:th minute left Ultra´s Choochai Rochana completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Ultra´s Travis Sousa received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 22nd minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 2. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. In the 32nd minute Ultras Tord Emilsson received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Wisconsin were forced to a substitution as Eric Guillén couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. Choochai Rochana increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. In the 41st minute Ultras José Ramon Pulido Quecedo received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Preston Chestnut the unlucky victim, couldn´t continue the game. The away team´s Choochai Rochana took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 44:th minute increasing Ultra´s lead to 0 - 4. At that, Choochai Rochana was noted down for a hat trick. After this Ultra lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Man, what a shot by Gary Grewar! Firing from 35 yards he didn't give the enemy goalie a chance and it was 0 - 5. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Travis Sousa needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. In the 44:th minute Ultra put themselves up 0 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. Scorer was Billy Quick. 0 - 6 was the half-time score. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 78 percent possession of the ball.
Ultra -coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players looked a lot more organized. Some lightning fast two feet dribbles by Marcus Boyds leftFrédéric Amoudry way behind in the 48:th minute, but the shot was just outside. In the 49:th minute the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 7 as Choochai Rochana finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Ultra had obvious problems in finding their positions. The game was close to savage at times, and Ultra`s José Ramon Pulido Quecedo received a second yellow card in the 64:th, his ticket out of the game. Choochai Rochana could have put his team up another one in the 75:th minute, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Choochai Rochana increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 8. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 81 percent, dominated the battle.
Wisconsin´s best player was Scott Driscoll. William Ashby was a disappointment, however. Ultra´s best player was Tord Emilsson. However, Billy Quick made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.
------------------------
Yeah it was a bot team...still Choochai "Choo-Choo" Rochana dominated...Grewar got a goal, Sousa and even Billy Quick playing for injured Eli.
The knock on Quick was wrong btw, he had two stars like the bulk of the team...I was angry at my winger getting a red card.

Midfield: wretched
Right Side Defence: outstanding
Central Defence: outstanding
Left Side Defence: solid

They are hurting at mid, but I assume it was because they put in youth squad for training (please God let my assumption be wrong).
They play a 4-4-2.

Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: solid

What can you say about this except maybe attack with a 3-4-3?
Riddle won 6-0.
They play a 3-5-2. Wingbacks are defensive. Symmetric 3-5-2. 2 wingers plus one mid at offensive. One mid at defensive (he got 3 stars). They may lack depth at mid as one was replaced due to injury.

Nationals
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: poor
Right Side Defence: excellent
Central Defence: excellent
Left Side Defence: excellent

4-4-2 with some little nuances. One central defender is offensive. One winger is offensive. One mid is towards wing. (These last two occur on the right side, the offensive defender is on the left). Again I think they put in rookies, the one striker is only a half star.
They won 6-0.

He solidifies the mid. Amoundry will play until Eli gets healthy. He's not much of a passer, but nine goals is nice. I'm now out of cash.
Mybestteam knocked me up to a 55.8% in the midfield.
My hope is that by playing my league teams with weak to wretched mids, that I will conquer due to possession time and scoring chances...I believe Choochai and Grewar will be a nice formidable crew, my wingers are not the best, but we're strong everywhere else...

Heavy Metal Superstars - Ultra Nox 1 - 1
Date: 4/7/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544050
Arena: Heavy Metal Superstars Arena
Crowd: 10000
10000 spectators had come to Heavy Metal Superstars Arena this cloudy day. Superstars tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Talley - Cruz, Buchanan, Doty - Numbers, Fowler, Anderson, Cornell, Winstead - Pålsson, Perdue.
Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Faulk - Wolen, Liederberg, Kasemchai, Amoudry, Quick - Rochana, Grewar.
Many thought Jesse Perdue ought to have been awarded a penalty shot in the 14:th minute, as he went down trying to circle the visitors keeper Saphou Supriyadi. Superstars´s Bryan Numbers left the field after 29 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Jan Golden. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Frédéric Amoudry needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. In the 38:th minute Jan Golden almost put the home team one ahead on a cross pass coming in from the right, but the shot went wide. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 40:th minute goal by Jesse Perdue for Superstars, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Ultra had obvious problems in finding their positions. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Superstars, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.
The Ultra players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. The referee showed Ultras Billy Quick the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Superstars were forced to a substitution as Todd Doty couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. The crowd was silenced in the 78:th minute as the visiting teams Pakdee Kasemchai came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Superstars held the ball, with a clear 52 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Superstars player was without a doubt Kevin Anderson. Arthur Park on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. However, Billy Quick made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.

Some good points and some bad...we tied, so we didn't lose. The team performed quite well, Billy Quick is not meant to be a starter, but since my other winger was suspended it didn't really matter.
Star wise:
Saphou 2.5
Defense
Ike Noe 2.5
Travis Sousa 2
Ollie Faulk 2
Mids
Leszek Wolen 2.5
Frederic Amoudry 2.5
Mattias Leiderberg 2.5
Pakdee Kasemchai 2.5
Billy Quick 1.5 (ugh)
Forwards
Gary Grewar 2.5
Choochai Rochana 2
Only Quick was bad bad...I'd love to get a real winger but budget wise I'm not spending anymore...I thought we could win against the machine, but I think right now I'll be lucky to stay out of relegation.

MatchID: 6868192
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd: 6022
6022 spectators arrived at Ultra Nox Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Emilsson - Wolen, Liederberg, Cabras, Amoudry, Pulido Quecedo - Zabawa, Saura.
Hartford had chosen a strategic 2-2-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Cornwell - Zuniga, Schuler - Burnette, Watt - Singh, Li.
The visitors weren´t able to produce at least 9 players, which is the minimum amount allowed, so they had to concede to a walk over. The spectators, who had all been looking forward to an exciting game, were of course very disappointed. The match ends 5 - 0.

This wild Oceanic guy is going to get time at defense and mid. He'll actually being going mid this week in the cup...why, because it'll be the last time he can get big experience...and I want to see if I can push that weak to an inadequate quickly...the following week will be dedicated to defense...which I've been neglecting...I'm hoping that I can boost Cabras, Amoudry, and Delay and they will definately be my midfield tandem for friendlies...the cost was high after battling two other teams for him...the cost was 32k...it has started at 5k...I also lost out to another pure 17 yo central defender to grab this guy, but I felt that Delay was far more versatile...I'll still pull a keeper this week and see if I get lucky with a passable or solid...
Naturally this guy upsets the team spirit...anyone think it would be wise to play PIC this cup game coming up, since I'm probably going to lose anyway?

Ultra Nox - Ring of Fire 3 - 0
Date: 4/14/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544052
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd: 7000
At Ultra Nox Arena, 7000 punters turned up, and despite threatening clouds at the horizon, no rain came. Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Faulk, Sousa, Noe - Wolen, Liederberg, Kasemchai, Amoudry, Rochana - Grewar, Zabawa.
Ring had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Svantesson - Leyva, Knapp, Walling - Norton, Martin, Hartell, Jackson, Ellis - Falquist, Duncan.
The referee showed Rings Hung Jackson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 39 minutes into the game Hayden Leyva was a hair´s breadth away from giving Ring the lead. A prompt block by Saphou Supriyadi saved the home team that time. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 in the 41st by a breakthrough from Bartlomiej Zabawa, who unaided came in out of the right wing hooking the ball over the visitors keeper. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. No one team arose to dominate this half, ending in a deadlock.
The referee showed Ultras Mattias Liederberg the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Ultra lead up with 2 - 0. Gary Grewar finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Ultra´s Bartlomiej Zabawa was able to shove the ball in. 3-0. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 78 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Ultra. However, Tomas Svantesson made a spectacular save. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. Bartlomiej Zabawa on the other hand, had a terrible day. Ring´s best player was Lawrence Ellis. However, Glenn Knapp made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 0.

Nothing like beating a team who has a player named Hung Jackson (doesn't this guy belong on the Crawfish team?!?)
I'm impressed, but I'm guessing it was our homefield advantage that helped this time. We did overpower them in almost every area. But I'm still amazed.

Narciso Saura went for 73k to the MOABs...good luck Narciso!!!
Which brings me under the -200k debt mark...plus with the Pry sale and the fact that we have a cup match this weak, I should be right back to where I was debt wise prior to my youth squad acquistions...and trust me no more buying...I'm set to where I want to be (I know you've all heard this before....)

maybe I'm just stupid, but this guy looks like a strong pickup, passable scoring with solid passing or passable winging with solid passing......I know he's old, but he's got a couple seasons left in him, excellent stamina as well, I wouldn't be shocked to see him go over 100K.
I would love to have that guy.

Under the ABC's of tactics...wingers should be good at winger, good at passing, and good at playmaking...I think playmaking should be the key area actually...but I'm still hoping someone sees him as a 100k investment...but I think most people first looked upon him as a forward rather than a winger.

Date: 4/17/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 6898073
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd: 7000
7000 spectators arrived at Ultra Nox Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Ultra tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Emilsson, Cabras, Marusic, Zacaroli - Josefsson, Delay, bin Sabtu, Ming-Chung, Hansson - Zabawa.
Eructadores had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Marañón - Berger, Smith, Urbansson - Frantz, Hansson, Davis, Aja Fernández, Colby - Roberson, Dalander.
Matthew Roberson had a good try in the 20:th minute, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Eructadores took the lead in the games 40:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. Lars Urbansson was the scorer. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Eructadores held the ball, with a clear 76 percent possession rate.
The Ultra players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 54:th minute Eructadores goal, making it 0 - 2. Tobias Dalander was noted down as the scorer. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. In the 66:th minute the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Herbert Berger finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. A header from Bartlomiej Zabawa connected with a corner kick after 72 minutes, and the ball ended up with Steve Delay of Ultra who shot the 1-3 goal. The visitors Rich Colby took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 73rd minute. 1 - 4 for Eructadores. By now Eructadores were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Eructadores held the ball, with a clear 87 percent possession rate.
Ultra´s best player was Tord Emilsson. Mohd Zulfakri bin Sabtu on the other hand, had a terrible day. Eructadores´s best player was Eduardo Marañón. Daniel Aja Fernández was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 4.

In the most basic terms, I played my rookies and I selected PIC...why...because while the cash was nice, I was playing a Div3 team, and had I put my top squad in, there would've been a good chance I would've won...but at the expense of this weekend against top rated Riddle...I'd rather stick to winning in the league because sooner or later I would've been overmatched in the cup. I'd rather get my youth squad ready...that's how you make the real money.
My squad was irritated now they're calm...nice.
My fans were satisfied, my sponsers delirious...so I feel I won't get hurt too badly because of the loss, as long as I win sunday.
I'm hoping that some of my youth squad boost high this friday...I'm training playmaking...I need desperately for someone to bloom...the wingers or Steve Delay would be a nice start (these are guys I want to keep) the others are inadequates I want to boost to passable or solid (should they level twice) and sell on the market for cash...
Now I can't wait for Friday.
In the meantime, anyone that wants a friendly in their house...I'm all game.

Riddle - Ultra Nox 2 - 1
Date: 4/21/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544056
Arena: Riddle Arena
Crowd: 20000
At Riddle Arena, 20000 punters turned up, and despite threatening clouds at the horizon, no rain came. Riddle started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Sorenson - Masters, Nagy, Torrado - Rolandsson, Childs, Wilde, Looney, Katz - Redding, de Bruyne.
Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Faulk - Rochana, Liederberg, Kasemchai, Amoudry, Wolen - Grewar, Zabawa.
Riddle made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Bobby Childs completely alone with keeper Saphou Supriyadi, who made a spectacular block. In the games 14:th minute Ultra´s Ollie Faulk head butted an opponent nastily and so the referee sent him off immediately. Ultra took the lead in the games 14:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. Gary Grewar was the scorer. After 15 minutes Bobby Childs got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn´t get the shot away. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. Riddle, bringing the final ball possession rate to 67 percent, dominated the battle.
After 74 minutes of play Jerald Redding equalised for Riddle after an elegant attack from the right. In the games 80:th minute Ultra´s Ike Noe fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Ike Noe for taking a dive. Riddles Szaniszló Nagy gave, after 87 minutes, the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Riddle, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.
Most important Riddle player was Alexander Wilde. Denny Masters on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Mattias Liederberg on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.

The amazing thing is...14 minutes into the game Faulk headbutts a player and gets carded off...we maintained until the very end. Very impressive...I'm debating on whether or not to sell Faulk for cash to get out of a debt and place Tord in his spot...
Of course, with the loss I get knocked out of second place...but my fans and my sponsers were far more understanding...the only thing that decreased was team confidence...
The good news I get Eli Svarva back...a passable inner mid with formidable stamina...
The bad news is that I go back into debt because I get no cash from the away game...and I'll get a little cash from the friendly...I can't really sell anyone off...tho I hope the youth squard goes passable this week and I get a good pull...or one of my rookies bumps up a spot for a quick sell...
Ike Noe has become more dominant, I may want to train some defending soon to bolster Sousa and Noe's abilities...I'm hoping I can after Cabras and Amoudry, plus Delay, the rookie wingers bump up...Delay can be trained a defense as well...I may train the wingers at wingbacks as well...

Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd:
A scorching day at Ultra Nox Arena, where 368 spectators were in place for today´s match. Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Nuijens, Marusic, Emilsson - Hansson, Cabras, Delay, Isobe, Josefsson - Svarva , Zabawa.
Maniacal tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. Lineup: Valdés - Lindhquist, Simon, Herjólfsson, Dent, Nilsson - Godland, Liebers, Gravem, Markhus - Magennis.
Eli Svarva gave his Ultra the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. In the 24:th minute Maniacals Blaine Dent received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Maniacal seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Bartlomiej Zabawa should probably have put his team up another goal in the 29:th minute, but some great goaltending by Jorge Valdés kept the visitors in the game. In the 34:th minute Maniacals Mathias Liebers received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. In the games 37:th minute Ultra´s Tord Emilsson fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Tord Emilsson for taking a dive. In the to 40:th minute a very unfortunate collision in the home teams penalty area led to Ultra´s Yuki Isobe being carried off the pitch and replaced by Jin Ming-Chung. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 73 percent possession rate.
The Maniacal players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. In the games 47:th minute, Tord Emilsson could have extended the lead, but his very hard free kick went just over the bar. Maniacal appeared unsure on how to play. Christian Hansson didn´t pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. Jorge Valdés was caught napping a bit later as Tord Emilsson lifted a ball over him after a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keepers arms. Einar Markhus made a run for the goal in the 81st minute but the home teams far left defense managed to sort the situation out in the end. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Maniacal´s Johan Nilsson got himself booked. Maniacal seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 70 percent possession rate.
Most important Ultra player was Tord Emilsson. Jin Ming-Chung on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Maniacal player was Jesper Lindhquist. Blaine Dent on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.
-Tord does everything for us, what a gifted defender, he gets the callup this weekend against the kiwis since Ollie Faulk decided to get a red card-

Everyone else one star
with exception of
Yuki Isobe 1/2 star out four weeks due to injury...I bought him for a grand, I fired him, he'll work in our front office to entice players from the Far East to join our team.
Right now, I'm debating when to stop training midfield...I feel that I have a better investment in training scoring with 19 yo Grewar and Zabawa, and their chances of going solid are quite high...I wouldn't sell them, but to have two solid attackers would greatly help a team that has poor playmaking wingers...I'm hoping that if I can get Amoudry to go solid and Cabras to go passable I'll be a happy man...Steve Delay has great potential at mid with passable stamina, passable passing, inadequate defense but weak playmaking, here's hoping he double bumps for a nice payoff...
My wingers get half the training of playmaking so they're going to take a long time to develop, with weak and inadequate playmaking...I'd love to train Ike Noe at playmaking as well, nothing like an offensive defender to help out on the pitch...but really I'm at a loss of what to train, I may train Saphou to go solid as well as I believe he's quite close...but I guess it all depends on the youth pull this week (here's hoping I get to passable).
I'm in a tough division in the cup, can't wait to play...of course daedalus has some keen insight into my team, but I'll be altering things a little to keep everyone on their toes.
I play the kiwis this weekend at home, so more cash (woohoo)...a tough team in every aspect but midfield (past three league games: wretched, poor, wretched). They play a 4-4-2...they have one really good defender (4 star), but the mids are twos (1 at 1.5) and the rest of the defense is 2 at best as well...
Not much else to add, glad to see some people reading the dynasty, we'll see what happens at friday's training update.

Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Supriyadi - Faulk, Sousa, Noe - Wolen, Kasemchai, Cabras, Amoudry, Josefsson - Rochana, Grewar.
Nationals created a good opportunity to score in the games 14:th minute when Mateo Martínez Bueno`s hooked ball created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Nationals made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Chan Siong-Gek completely alone with keeper Saphou Supriyadi, who made a spectacular block. 27 minutes into the game Choochai Rochana was a hair´s breadth away from giving Ultra the lead. A prompt block by Ricky Nielsen saved the home team that time. The referee showed Nationalss Sam Dow the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Travis Sousa went down after a savage challenge, but could keep on playing after some medical attention. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 0. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.
Ultra´s Gary Grewar gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead in the 59:th minute with a superb strike from the right. With a shot floated in from just outside the penalty area in the 73rd minute, Wallace Le of Nationals evened the score to 1 - 1. 78 minutes into the game Choochai Rochana was a hair´s breadth away from giving Ultra the lead. I'm dying to train scoring this week just in hopes of getting Grewar or Zabawa to bump up to solid...both are close in pricing for a solid scorer
Next week I want to try defense as I think Ike Noe is ready for excellent or close
The following week should be goalkeeping as Saphou is close.
We should be getting close to passable in youth squad, maybe we'll have something to show for it someday.
Then it will be back to playmaking or wingers as my two young 17yo's need to get some more experience...
I play the Squids this week, I guess they're scouting for the cup game since were in the same division...
Injuries to two mids are telling me that I should upgrade there (by training, not buying) but I plan to sell Eli Svarva (solid playmaking) and Mattias Leiderberg ASAP to recoup some cash...I'm not confident the Cabras/Kasemchai/Amoudry trio will work, but with Delay(weak playmaking but passable passing and inadequate defense) and Jin Ming-Chung (passable playmaking) waiting in the wings along with rookie wingers Christian Hansson and Per Jossefson I should be alright in a season or two...I'm holding my own with the big boys...I just hope the team can hold together...I'm already planning a firesale soon with the old vets if things go back after Soccer Rockers.

Port Angeles Colossal Squids - Ultra Nox 1 - 2
Date: 5/8/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 6979723
Arena: The Anchorhead
Crowd: 571
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 571 to The Anchorhead. Colossal had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Vandyke - Edensten, Lang, Heitinga, Padgett - Myhre , Özsözlü, Rosman, Tee-Bon - Houck, Wyman.
Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Noe, Faulk, Emilsson - Josefsson, Cabras, Delay, Ming-Chung, Hansson - Grewar, Zabawa.
Yossi Rosman of Colossal received a yellow card in the 5:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Ultra had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially in the 10:th minute when Gary Grewar came up alone against Hector Vandyke who managed a block. A mistake by the home sides central defence in the 17:th minute allowed Ike Noe to score 0 - 1 for Ultra. The referee showed Colossals Zhu Tee-Bon the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The bicycle kick from Asbjorn Myhre would have been the Goal of the Year, had it not hit the posts. The away team´s Jin Ming-Chung took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 28:th minute increasing Ultra´s lead to 0 - 2. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 2. This part of the game had been a standoff between the teams.
The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when Sezer Özsözlü, after a brilliant midfield combination, put the reducing 1 - 2 goal away for Colossal. 59 minutes into the game Ollie Faulk had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Leszek Wolen. Colossal´s Trent Houck made an attempt at equalising in the 63rd minute, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post, the defense clearing the rebound. Colossal made a substitution in the 66:th minute. Sezer Özsözlü limped off the field and was replaced by Jim Campbell. The referee showed Ultras Bartlomiej Zabawa the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Ultras Steve Delay got himself booked after a foul. Colossal held the ball, with a clear 62 percent possession rate.
Most important Colossal player was Jim Campbell. Gerald Padgett on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Ultra player was Ike Noe. However, Leszek Wolen made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.

Soccer Rockers - Ultra Nox 1 - 5
Date: 5/12/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544067
Arena: Soccer Rockers Arena
Crowd: 5345
The 5345 spectators at Soccer Rockers Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Rockers tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Bendala Galan - Spurlock, Herbert, Warner, Wilkerson - Mcfadden, Ansari, Cook, Truchon - Sanders, Wilson.
Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Rochana - Wolen, Kasemchai, Cabras, Amoudry, Josefsson - Grewar, Zabawa.
Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 14:th minute goal by Jerry Mcfadden for Rockers, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Speedy Sammy Truchon dashed past his markers after 18 minutes, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, Anthony Sanders failed to score. 18 minutes into the game Ultra´s Gary Grewar found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring with a long shot, making it 1 - 1. After 27 minutes Ultra´s Bartlomiej Zabawa contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Per Josefsson was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was saved by the keeper. However, Ultra´s Bartlomiej Zabawa managed to get hold of the rebound and scored the 1-2 goal. Gary Grewar came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Martín Bendala Galan, hitting the bar. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 56 percent possession rate.
The visitors Gary Grewar took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 48:th minute. 1 - 3 for Ultra. The structure of the game started to change as Ultra decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The referee showed Ultras Lucio Cabras the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Gary Grewar could have put his team up another one in the 74:th minute, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. In the 75:th minute the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 4 as Per Josefsson finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Gary Grewar increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 1 - 5. By then Gary Grewar was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Ultra held the ball, with a clear 69 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Rockers player was without a doubt Weldon Spurlock. Sammy Truchon on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Leszek Wolen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 5.

The Good:
We won...Grewar with a hattrick. Zabawa scored. So did young winger Joseffson.
Stars go to:
3 stars: Noe and Sousa (I'm training defense next)
2.5: Saphou, Kasemchai, Zabawa, Grewar, Rochana (at wingback this time)
2: everyone else...
As an added bonus a new team has taken over for the tough kiwis...they are 25 de mayo F.C. which is a highly odd name for a team...nevertheless they entered the league and were systematically slaughtered by Heavy Metal Superstars in a 7-0 match.
So that leaves two teams which I can at least be confident in PICing for a while.
My team spirit has gone back to composed.
The bad:
I have to face the tough Mesa Mehados team which defeated Nationals 2-1. I face them twice!
The ugly:
This being a road game, and the fact I had to call in doctors for some injuries my budget will be a nasty 325k in debt.!

Mehados which had been light on ammo, heavy on armor, found some offense (I'll have to check their transaction list, perhaps they finally brought in a sniper). Any win against a team chasing me is a good one.

673 spectators had come to Ultra Nox Arena this cloudy day. Ultra tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. They fielded: Supriyadi - Delay, Emilsson, Amoudry, Marusic, Hansson - Rochana, Ming-Chung, Nuijens - Cabras, Zabawa.
Calibiri had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Shelby - Irving, Recasens, Gabriel - Fletcher, Carroll, Healy, Olson, Eriksson - Veres, Ranmar.
A mistake by the home sides central defence in the 12th minute allowed Anders Ranmar to score 0 - 1 for Calibiri. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Anders Ranmar hit the ball just perfect in the 17:th minute and could score for Calibiri with a fab long shot to 0 - 2. The structure of the game started to change as Calibiri decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. In the 31st minute the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Michael Fletcher finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Ultras Christian Hansson got himself booked after a foul. Calibiri were forced to a substitution as Nathan Healy couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Ultra´s Choochai Rochana got himself booked. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Calibiri, bringing the final ball possession rate to 67 percent, dominated the battle.
The Ultra players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. After the ball got lifted in from the left Bruce Carroll was on his own in the home side´s penalty area 70 minutes into the game, and should have scored, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Gerrit Nuijens sprinted between the opposing defenders after 83 minutes, but the keeper deflected Lucio Cabras's shot. The referee showed Ultras Frédéric Amoudry the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Calibiri, with an impressive 75 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. Lucio Cabras was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Calibiri player was without a doubt Michael Fletcher. Bruce Carroll was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 3.

Due to an all-day shower, 7000 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Ultra Nox Arena. Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Rochana, Sousa, Noe - Wolen, Kasemchai, Cabras, Amoudry, Josefsson - Grewar, Zabawa.
Mehados tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Tullind - Fischer, Hamlin, Hatcher, Buendía, Lomax - Molina, Paulson, Taylor - Burns, Heng-suan.
After a fine move down the middle Bartlomiej Zabawa nearly gave the home side one up in the 13th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. In the games 24:th minute Mehados´s Bradly Burns fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Bradly Burns for taking a dive. Ultra had a good opportunity to take the lead as Bartlomiej Zabawa came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into thearms of Mats Tullind. A well placed corner kick from Gary Grewar was followed by Frédéric Amoudry´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant 1-0 for Ultra. The home side´s Gary Grewar came close to extending the lead in the 36:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Mats Tullind managed saving with a fingernail. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.
The home side´s Bartlomiej Zabawa came close to extending the lead in the 46:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Mats Tullind managed saving with a fingernail. 53 minutes into the game Yin Heng-suan had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Lester Melendez. After 53 minutes Lucio Cabras put Ultra ahead 2 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. The structure of the game started to change as Ultra decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Choochai Rochana of Ultra received a yellow card in the 67:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Mehados had a good opportunity to reduce the score in the 73rd minute, breathing new life into the game, but the home side´s defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long range shot coming in from the left, rebounding off the With 79 minutes played Bartlomiej Zabawa could have brought this one home for Ultra, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 54 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Per Josefsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. Mehados´s best player was Kent Hamlin. Lester Melendez was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 0.

Looking at Mehados last few games, I constructed a new type of gameplan...and I guess it worked.
It was a 3-5-2 but that alone I felt wouldn't be enough to win the match, his defense is just tough, but I decided to hit his weakest side (even though that was on average a brilliant level) but the key thing was that he removes a winger in his 2-3-5 tactic and I hit that side with abandon...offensive wingback Rochana and offensive wing Wolen. His defense for the side that I attacked was still outstanding...plus the midfield played heavy in the scoring role. Taking out his scorer was a plus since his offense prowess is terrible.
It worked, now I just have to figure out my next plan since he now knows my tactic.

Ultra Nox - Mesa Mehados 2 - 0

Ties are good, the Nationals are tough but the draw keeps them still at a wary distance...the draw gets me closer to the Heavy Metal Superstars...a nice win for me.

Date: 5/22/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 7033458
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd: 611
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 611 at Ultra Nox Arena today. Ultra had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Delay, Emilsson, Amoudry, Marusic, Hansson - Rochana, Cabras, Ming-Chung, Josefsson - Zabawa.
Scranton had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Zuazo - Herrman, Rutherford, Erwin, Reyes - Mayberry, Tensek, Robinsson, Wahlmar, Palmborg - Balling.
Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. The 27:th minute saw the home team take a 1 - 0 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for Ultra was Bartlomiej Zabawa. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser in the 34:th minute after a good combination down the middle, but as Frank Balling was to put closure on the raid he couldn´t deliver a shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. Frank Balling came close to levelling the score in the 34:th minute, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 55 percent, dominated the battle.
Ultra -coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players looked a lot more organized. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Jin Ming-Chung of Ultra received a yellow card in the 65:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A great save by goaltender Ruperto Zuazo in the 68:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Tord Emilsson struck from the left with a real cannonball. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 72 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Ultra. However, Ruperto Zuazo made a spectacular save. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Ultra´s Tord Emilsson got himself booked. Ultra made a substitution in the 80:th minute. Choochai Rochana limped off the field and was replaced by Leszek Wolen. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 76 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. Jin Ming-Chung on the other hand, had a terrible day. Scranton´s best player was Ruperto Zuazo. Nenad Tensek on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.

How are the training progressing? I remember you were waiting for the two defenders to pop, not sure if or when they did. Pretty good for Grewar to be up around the serie leader. Bonus money would be nice. :)
You could, uhh, always take the serie and just not win the promotional game. More bonus for higher finish after all. :)

Eli Svarva went for $53280, he's out two weeks, but he has psuedo-clown experience...not that I mind because I bought him for 40k...nice profit, good luck to him.
Gerrit Nuijins went for for 25k, I originally bought him for 20k, I just didn't have time to concentrate on training him...good luck to him, he's quick and if he got his winger and defense skills to passable he'd be a nice wingback.
Jin Ming-Chung I knew would sell, I bought him for 1k as an inadequate...sold him for the cash and wound up with almost 24k...nice little profit, again I could've probably gotten more, but no interest.
I was stunned that my solid playmaking inner mid didn't go, but perhaps Mattias Leiderberg is just shot...still he may go on the list next week, with solid defender Ollie Faulk...
so the debt for today went from 342k to 255k...I'm very happy...I'm back on the road to recovery...

Mesa Mehados - Ultra Nox 0 - 0
Date: 5/26/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544076
Arena: The Rio
Crowd: 23248
The 23248 spectators at The Rio were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Mehados had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Tullind - Fischer, Hamlin, Hatcher, Buendía, Lomax - Molina, Paulson, Taylor, Velazquez - Heng-suan.
Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Noe, Sousa, Faulk - Josefsson, Kasemchai, Cabras, Amoudry, Wolen - Grewar, Zabawa.
The referee showed Mehadoss Robert Taylor the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The Ultra player was Travis Sousa who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game. Ultra´s Frédéric Amoudry could have put the guests one up in the 26:th minute, chasing a through ball but Mats Tullind was fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Mehados, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.
This was a good period for the visitors with several opportunities to take the lead, in particular when Gary Grewar slipped through the defense to come up alone with Mats Tullind - but the home side´s keeper showed some lightning reflex After a fine move down the middle Robert Taylor nearly gave the home side one up in the 72nd minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Mehados, bringing the final ball possession rate to 58 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Mehados player was without a doubt Casey Lomax. Yin Heng-suan was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. However, Bozidar Marusic made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 0.

Not only did he MOTs me, but he played a 5-4-1! Guess he wasn't too optimistic on his chances. The bad news is that I lose Travis Sousa, the good news is that I have other defenders I can shove in there until he gets back.

Crowd: 5882
Due to an all-day shower, 5882 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Ultra Nox Arena. Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Supriyadi - Noe, Marusic, Hansson - Wolen, Kasemchai, Cabras, Amoudry, Josefsson - Grewar, Zabawa.
Chicago started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Barnard - Parker, Guy, Gibbons, Harris - Perry, Doughty, Gwo-chung, Trout - Odom, Dubey.
In the 13th minute cheers broke out as Lucio Cabras found his way through the guests central defense line, clipping the 1 - 0 goal in for Ultra. The referee showed Ultras Ike Noe the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Garfield Harris went down after a savage challenge, but could keep on playing after some medical attention. Gary Grewar increased Ultras lead to 2 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Ultra´s Bozidar Marusic had an excellent opportunity in the 42nd minute, shooting on a through ball, but he missed the goal by miles! A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 44 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Ultra. However, Waldo Barnard made a spectacular save. With 45 minutes played Gary Grewar could have brought this one home for Ultra, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. 2 - 0 was the half-time score. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 76 percent possession rate.
Gary Grewar struck a 30 metre free kick home in the 51st minute. 3 - 0 for the home team. After this Ultra lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. After an industrious effort down the middle Bartlomiej Zabawa could have closed the game off in the 52nd minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. After an industrious effort down the middle Lucio Cabras could have closed the game off in the 63rd minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. In the 69:th minute Ultras Lucio Cabras received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 70 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Ultra. However, Waldo Barnard made a spectacular save. Chicago´s Albert Trout left the field after 83 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Chad Escobar. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 74 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Gary Grewar on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Chicago player was without a doubt Vyomakesh Dubey. Alvin Odom was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.

Nothing new, de mayo is just a nonexistant team...
Nationals - Mesa Mehados 0 - 1
The Mehados stun the Nationals with a score...two tough teams, I play the Nationals this week...
Riddle - Ring of Fire 0 - 3
Ring of Fire absolutely owned Riddle...now Ring is in the lead...I've beaten Ring but I think it was because they thought I was a "new" player...I won't be so lucky in a few weeks.
Ultra Nox - Chicago Celti 3 - 0
Nice win, gotta beat National to stay afloat.
NEXT ROUND
Mesa Mehados - 25 de mayo f.c.
Even the Mehados should be able to score a few goals against this team.
Heavy Metal Supersta - Riddle
If Riddle can gain composure after a tough loss, Heavy Metal may be in trouble...a big plus if Riddle wins, cos I can get closer up the standings..
Chicago Celtic - Ring of Fire
Celtic thought I was tough...Ring of Fire will have it easy.
Ultra Nox - Nationals
The Celtic was the calm before the storm...I may MOTs even though last time it only got me a draw...and I'm still without one of my best defenders...

Hello Hello, Goodbye Goodbye
Ah yes, it has been a while with transactions...but I've decided to sell some players for cash...and a new stadium for next season...but I was so short on depth, I decided to grab some youth picks as well (nothing over 5k).
Choochai Rochana -sold for 39,600- he got hurt, and basically since I'm training defense and have two soon to be excellent defenders and a boatload of passables, he could go...I wish him the best, also he's 32 and getting hurt kinda made me decide to sell him while I could...
Mattias Leiderberg- sold for 36,900- why sell a solid midfielder, well he's 33 and he got hurt and now he's in poor form, cut my losses.
Ollie Faulk -sold for 62,100- A solid defender that never seemed to be on the ball...I needed him against Riddle and he headbutts a player and gets red carded making me play a division leader shorthanded...then he gets hurt...I've got defenders that can do better...
Tord Emillson was on the list but didn't get sold...I'll keep him for depth purposes..
Bring in the New Nox!!!

The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball call in the penalty area. Ultra´s Steve Delay made a successful breakthrough attempt in the game´s 8:th minute and should have levelled the score, but clipped it over the bar. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 59 percent possession rate.
Lucio Cabras was just a finger´s breadth away from an equaliser for Ultra, but Ricky Nielsen managed to ward the closing shot off for a corner. Good News...Travis Sousa should be back next week to bruised but playing...he'll partake in the league game against de mayo because it'll be a PIC game...
I'm selling Boz D and giving it another chance at the market with Tord...I may sell a few others just to get at a cheap winger or something to help my sputtering offense. Sousa or Noe will be dealt before the start of next season to break ground on a new stadium.

I attacked only from one side...Ike Noe was set to offensive wingback, along with Wozek as an offensive winger...it was his weakest side (that is his left). He has a 4 star central defender, so I tried to play the action away from him...both times I couldn't crack him (0-0, and 0-1 this game).
It is possible that I may miss Choochai Rochana more than I thought at winger, but he would've been too old, much better to stick Josefsson there (at 17).
Sousa should be back soon, which will add for more flexibility at defense...I should be able to train playmaking soon too, perhaps next season, I want to see if anyone else from my defensive batch goes passable/solid in the next few weeks (unless some youth pull since I'm at solid, forces me to change training).
After de Mayo I have to play the contender teams, it is very possible I could slip out of the 4 spot easily to an aggressive Mehados or tough Nationals...
We know Ring of Fire will be ready after I beat them early in the season...Riddle is riddle, I think I would have had a better chance against them if it hadn't been for Ollie Faulk's stupid dismissal, and Heavy Metal is a tough team...I may have to invest in spokespersons and pyschologists quite soon.
Thanks for reading, everyone.

Date: 6/16/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544089
Arena: 25 de mayo f.c. Arena
Crowd: 3846
3846 spectators had come to 25 de mayo f.c. Arena this cloudy day. mayo started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Lamb - Moore, Bess, Metzger, Mansfield - Huerta, Waggoner, Anderson, Little - Buendia Gonzalez, Porter.
Ultra had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Supriyadi - Noe, Delay, Levin, Hansson - Wolen, Kasemchai, Hansson, Josefsson - Grewar, Cabras.
In the games 12th minute Lucio Cabras almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a spectacular scissors shot just past the bar. The referee showed Ultras Steve Delay the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Matt Little went down after a savage challenge, but could keep on playing after some medical attention. Lucio Cabras came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 31st minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Oscar Lamb managed to tip the ball to a corner. Ultra took the lead after 35 minutes with 0 - 1. Lucio Cabras placed the ball out of reach for the home sides keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 56 percent, dominated the battle.
Steve Delay increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2. In the games 60:th minute Ultra´s Per Josefsson fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Per Josefsson for taking a dive. In the 61st minute the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Leszek Wolen finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. In the to 66:th minute a very unfortunate collision in the home teams penalty area led to mayo´s Matt Little being carried off the pitch and replaced by Wes Staley. A surprising free kick routine in the 71st minute nearly resulted in another goal for the visitors, but the ball went just a little wide, leaving the strikers offside. In the 72nd minute Ultra put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. Scorer was Lucio Cabras. After this Ultra lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Sidney Levin received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 76:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 69 percent, dominated the battle.
Most important mayo player was Zelipe Buendia Gonzalez. Chris Waggoner on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Lucio Cabras was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 4.

The next three weeks will be a nightmare of Riddle, Ring of Fire and finishing with Heavy Metal.
That's the bad news, here's the good news:

2. Gary Grewar Ultra Nox 8
3. Romeo Foster Riddle 6

Grewar is stuck at 8, and Cabras didn't help by stealing his goals this week (it also doesn't help that Zabawa is now on another team...but we'll see what happens).

Wow. Grewar has been at 8 for a long time. At least Perdue hasn't taken advantage of it.
The Riddle game could be an interesting one.

Yeah, the Cabras thing probably screwed him out of some goals and it's no help that Perdue plays a soft team this week.
I'm planning on selling Wolzek before the season is out...and perhaps Kasemchai...I figure they will be quite old by next season and their salaries could be better spent on the other players and stadium building.
Let's look at Wolek.
Leszek Wolen
55 000 US$, 29 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: weak
Playmaking: inadequate
Passing: inadequate
Winger: solid
Defending: poor
Scoring: inadequate
Set Pieces: passable
---------
He's not a bad winger, but he'll be 30 while I was shocked when he advanced from disasterous to poor in defense, he's not going to get much better...
Here are his replacements:
Christian Hansson
46 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: weak
Playmaking: weak
Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate
Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched
Set Pieces: inadequate
Nothing like a quick winger, we'll be working on PM, but his defense is good.
-------
Heine Arntzen
22 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: poor
Playmaking: weak
Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate
Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor
Set Pieces: poor
Your typical offensive winger, we should be able to get the PM up quickly, he has no defensive ability which may become a liability.
-------
Ike Noe 2 accumulated bookings
139 000 US$, 22 years, passable form
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]
Stamina: passable
Playmaking: inadequate
Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate
Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched
Set Pieces: passable
Why not? He's got the ability and will get playing time at mid, he's got the defense.
-----------

Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Technical]
Stamina: inadequate
Playmaking: poor
Passing: inadequate
Winger: passable
Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched
Set Pieces: wretched
Odd has alot of ability, if we can get his playmaking to inadequate he'll be a nice grab...
---------
Per Josefsson
29 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: passable
Playmaking: weak
Passing: poor
Winger: passable
Defending: poor
Scoring: poor

The last guy on the list, Per has to advance in PM, but he should be a nice player as well.

Noe as a winger is certainly an interesting possibility. I mean, if you get him enough playing time in the middle and is training playmaking, it's not entirely inconceivable that he could be a solid by 24. A solid playmaker/solid defender playing toward the middle would be interesting. You'd get very little attacking from that side but you'd have darn good defense there and a lot of serious playmaking benefits.

Even better is what I've been shopping for- that solid defender/solid PM would make a wicked offensive central defender.

Ultra Nox - Riddle 1 - 4
Date: 6/23/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544093
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd:
At Ultra Nox Arena, 7000 punters turned up, and despite threatening clouds at the horizon, no rain came. Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Hansson, Noe, Levin - Wolen, Cabras, Amoudry, Delay, Josefsson - Grewar, Eide.
Riddle started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Sorenson - Masters, Foster, Torrado - Small, Long, Wilde, Looney, Reed - Redding, Katz.
Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 26:th minute goal by Gary Grewar for Ultra, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Riddle got a chance to level the score as Corey Long suddenly found himself free with the goaltender but the finishing shot hit the bar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Riddle´s Jason Small got himself booked. The visitors didn´t give in and after 36 minutes Alexander Wilde got through the home sides central line of defense, rolling in the levelling goal to make it 1 - 1 Ultras Lucio Cabras got himself booked after a foul. Riddle were forced to a substitution as Denny Masters couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. 1 - 1 was the half-time score. Riddle held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.
During the break Ultra´s coach went through the teams new tactics yet again. Riddles Jason Small excelled in some fine tricks that completely confusedFrédéric Amoudry - and the finish was no less spectacular - 1 - 2! In the games 70:th minute Ultra´s Leszek Wolen fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Leszek Wolen for taking a dive. One of many good passes from Raymond Reed at the wing was recieved and skillfully taken care of by José Katz, scoring for Riddle to 1 - 3. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 77:th minute Riddle goal, making it 1 - 4. José Katz was noted down as the scorer. Riddle held the ball, with a clear 58 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. Steve Delay on the other hand, had a terrible day. Riddle´s best player was Alexander Wilde. However, Federico Torrado made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 4.

Ring of Fire - Ultra Nox 3 - 1
Date: 6/30/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5544097
Arena: Ring of Fire Arena
Crowd:
21000 spectators had come to Ring of Fire Arena this cloudy day. Ring had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Mills - Leyva, Walling, Knapp - Fröerberg, Martin, Hartell, Staicu, Ellis - Duncan, Corbett.
Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Supriyadi - Hansson, Sousa, Levin - Braun, Amoudry, Noe, Delay, Wolen - Grewar, Eide.
Krister Fröerberg was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the enemy box - Chris Corbett managed to kick one of them into 1 - 0 in the 10:th minute. 18 minutes into the game Ultra´s Gary Grewar found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring with a long shot, making it 1 - 1. In the 20:th minute Rings Dirk Martin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The Ultra player was Frédéric Amoudry who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game. Per Hansson came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 25:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Bradford Mills managed to tip the ball to a corner. Ultra had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially in the 35:th minute when Gary Grewar came up alone against Bradford Mills who managed a block. Ring took the lead in the 40:th minute of the game by 2 to 1, as Dirk Martin elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Ultras Sidney Levin got himself booked after a foul. The teams went for a half-time break at 2 - 1. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ring, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.
Björn Walling really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal after a corner, but he lost his nerve. Ring put themselves up 3 - 1 when Lawrence Ellis broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. After this Ring lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. A great save by goaltender Saphou Supriyadi in the 68:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Chris Corbett struck from the left with a real cannonball. Ring, bringing the final ball possession rate to 68 percent, dominated the battle.
Ring´s best player was Glenn Knapp. However, Lawrence Ellis made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Saphou Supriyadi. Per Hansson was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.

Nationals play Ring of Fire, I expect Ring of Fire to win, so Nationals will be short a point if we both win...but I don't expect to win...going into the end of the season, I've lost my solid middie, so I know I'm in trouble come next Sunday.
Sousa has to regain form, if he doesn't soon, I'm in deeper trouble because I planned to sell him to break even for the season...now it looks I'll be in debt and without any commodities that I'd be willing to sell.
Oddly, I got 5 more supporters. I'm hoping for a win/draw...but mainly I'm hoping that Ring of Fire takes care of the Nationals. I'm really disappointed that Riddle couldn't beat them...Nationals just started unlucky I guess they seem to know how to dominate when they want to. Riddle is just that, they can clobber some teams, and then screw up against some others...Ring of Fire has been consistent. We got a new team LotzofSkill, just in time for Riddle to play them...why can't I get that lucky.
