I have to imagine a fair number of people support each one of them.

Jackson seems to have ALOT more credibility than Sharpton though, at least IMHO.

Alot to none doesnt always mean much but Jackson can and does make sense when speaking(sometimes). Sharpton just babbles about injustices. Jackson can provide solutions to what he views as problems. Sharpton just buys crack....I mean....that was a setup........he knew it.......he wasnt buying it.....he wasnt an FBI informant......oh man.........

I definately am not a fan of Jessie Jackson or Sharpton , but if neither speak on issues that affect black people than who will speak up. Colin Powell is basically in a position that he can only agree with what his administartion does for the most part and has not had a history of saying all that much anyway. To say that Jackson or Sharpton do anything in particular to hurt thier race is a weak arguement that is always brought up when white people disagree with the words or actions of a black man. I as a white man don't think the words or actions of Trent Lott affect whites as a race, just all americans, especially the idiots that keep putting him and others like him in office.

Jesse's a nice man, he just won't shut up... and never ask him about the need for a MLK holiday, the man will go on for 20 minutes, I know from experience.

First of all, Jesse Jackson has done some wonderful things for the Civil rights movement. Back in the 60s and 70s (when Sharpton was buying coke), Jackson was fighting for numerous great causes.

But, about ten years ago, things started to change. IMO, it became more about the money and power to Jackson, than just helping the cause.

The problem I see with Jackson (and esp Sharpton) right now is that they continue to reinforce this idea that individual black people are not to blame for any bad thing that happens to them. You got arrested? The cop was racist (not that you shouldn't have robbed the store). Do bad in school? The test is racist (not that you should have studied harder). This type of fostered victimhood is very dangerous and does nothing to help the cause of improving life for black Americans. It just gives them "an out" at the first sign of things going bad.

IMO, if Jackson and Sharpton would spend as much time lauding african american kids that do it right (get academic honors, run businesses, coach sports teams, and do great things with our communities) as they do championing the rights for drug dealers and kids suspended for getting in fights, they could do a great deal of good. But, the problem is that there is no money in honoring kids that do it the right way, no one to sue.

Now now Aries, stop using logic. Your form of logic is racist in nature. =)
