JIM PLEASE GIVE US TCY2!!!!! I will buy it 5 times just on principle! (I think I've bought the first one 3 or 4 times:)

I know some people want fancy graphics but I don't give a darn about that stuff. I just want these very easy minor tweaks (in order of importance):

1) Stat refinements:
A) add about 0.75 to 1.00 to the average Rushing Yds/Carry; its clearly too low right now (I add 1 yard per carry to the stats in my personal league and the numbers come out super-realistic) Also very very easy: change the high-school rushing stats by making many guys average 8-12 yards/carry. Most top D-I prospects completely dominated in high school.
B) add 5 yards per punt and 5 to the return (very easy since they net each other out)

2) allow scheduling of 13 games (not including bowl game)
3) realign leagues and add/drop any teams (rather obvious)

Playcalling and substititions would be nice but I homestly just need these 3 things!!!!!!! Another thing that would be nice but not all that important would be to make imbound transfers more common. Heck I'll even pre-order the damn thing (even though I can't understand the logic in that) just because you *&#$ing RULE!

Seriously, the first game was a work of programming art! Total genius! it just needs a new coat.

Oh, one more thing that would be way cool (but not a dealbreaker by any means) is if you actually got a report telling you where each of your players fell in the draft and to what team they played for. Even more cool would be a report that gave you there pro-stats( either right away or when they retire). You can even have a teams prestige be effected by the draft results!

I would like to see:
1) on/off options selection for injuries and (dumb) syndicate suspensions (not including academic suspensions) Nothing more aggravating than putting together a great team and to have key players go down with injuries and others get stupid suspensions before key games all in the name of creating a hard, realistic game experience. Sometimes gamers would like to play the game to win it all, without having your programming genus crush the gaming experience.
2) better recruiting tools: making it easier to find a specific player(s) to recruit (i.e. being able to select all TE's with a run blocking strength from a school with an athletic rating >70 and academic rating >70)
3) re-vamp the time management thing a total time waster.
4) the ability to add/modify teams, conferences and bowl games/playoff system
5) on/off for solecismic teams.
If anyone is listening this is just a few thoughts from someone who bought this game in 2007 and has played it off and on since then. Other than this I'll be waiting to see what Wolverine Studios puts on the market. Oh and I've tried demo of FOF 2007 and hated it. I find it too hard to be successful the game programming is just plain against the player who wants to win.

Basically, and I've said this before, I'd love to see more "push" and less "pull" in this game. I hate the fact that I have to go to a bunch of different screens every time to get information and then decipher what has changed since the last time. Perfect example...the screen that shows you who signed with who. It would be nice if the game made a bigger deal of when the top players signed and with who. I think the ESPN recruiting page perfectly illustrates a more immersion friendly experience.

Basically, while I love TCY, I find that I really need to work to get myself at all immersed in the world. If I don't take a lot of time to review all of the screens every week (players of the week, leaders, conference standings, recruiting, etc. etc.) everything is just names and numbers. Anything that would help to make this less work would be a big win in my book.

Same can be said for FOF. I would love to see a bigger deal made around the Hall of Fame for example. Watching the actual HOF selections this year was great...how they narrow it down to 15 and then 8 or whatever and then the ones that actually made it that year. You get the feeling, even if you don't follow football, that these were truly great players who made it. In FOF you just see a name pop up on a screen every year, and if it is for a different team especially, it's just a name. It would be neat to see a player get closer and closer every year or a truly great player being a first ballot HOF-er. Again, would add another level to the immersion..

Your comments on this in the past have been a major inspiration for the way I've coded some stuff for the MP leagues I'm in. A few examples of what you've inspired:

Note the top performers and the "injuries of note" in the first post in thread: GAMEDAY COMPLETED: 2014 Week 15 - World Order Of Football Forum (http://www.fof-woof.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4585)

Note the first post in this thread that puts the "top signings" in the forefront: FA1: 2015 FA1:4 Report - World Order Of Football Forum (http://www.fof-woof.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4752)

And then this (posts 1 and 4): NEW SINGLE-SEASON RECORD! - World Order Of Football Forum (http://www.fof-woof.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4617)

So thanks for the idea, and like you, I hope this sort of stuff makes it into any future Solecismic products.

Wow! That is some really terrific stuff! It undoubtedly adds a ton of depth to the league..

Easier said then done, I would actually take the work you've done to another level. For example on your top performers..who is Juan Henry? How many times this year has he been a top performer? Where does he rank overall in the league rushing wise?...I know I could click on his player card, but again that's going out and "pulling". I think of it as "I'm brand new to the league, how can I get familiar with the best teams, the best players, etc. as quickly as possible as well as stay updated on them on a weekly basis as easy as possible." Another example might be on the key free agent signings..what's their story? Who else was bidding on them? What kind of year did they have last year (or for their career) to warrant such a high (or low) contract? Are they a prime time, game changing free agent signing like Ray Lewis would be, or or they more an everyday kind of depth player?

But again, the work you've done already is really terrific. I'm guessing it takes you quite a bit of time to do all of that? Here's hoping we can eventually find a game that will take that burden off of the individual....And thanks for the kind words..they're greatly appreciated!

That is probably the main reason of me barely playing FOF lately. It's not just the old interface as i can get over it, but i see it mainly as an stats generator and some places where you can go to see those stats, but not really a game where i feel like a general manager.

For example:

- if one of my players gets injured, the only way to notice it is because he is red in the roster view. Instead i would like to receive an email from the team doctors explaining me what happened, when he is expected to return etc.

- if one of my players is disgruntled, i want him to talk with me to explain me why he feels that way and how could i improve his mood (more playing time, starting, new contract etc)

- if a player has a ratings drop/raise, instead of just needing to use a third party utility to notice it, i want my scout to message me telling me that he had that huge drop/raise on ratings because of reason X. The reason might be irrelevant, but helps again the immersion/realism factor

Also i love the games like Puresim or OOTP etc that have a news paper/section after each sim or after important dates/events. I love to read about other teams, players, records etc but i want that info to be given to me when it's relevant, instead of me going to the stats page and short players by any given stats or to go to the injuries section to see which players are injured in every team. Of course i want also those numerical stats pages, but i want also to be informed when something relevant happens, else i'll probably miss it and i won't feel immersed in my universe.

Another thing i like from games like DDSCB/PB is the magazines in preseason with a preview of each team, etc.

In resume, i want to FEEL like a real GM (with the game limitations) instead of a guy sitting in a computer looking at CPU generated stats.

Very well said! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said, and I think you sum it up nicely with the statement in bold The stats are fantastic and the immersion is great from a record keeping/historical perspecive, but, IMO, FOF/TCY could go from a B to an A with just a relevant "newspaper" feature. Anything on top of that would be icing on the cake.

Is there any argument to be made in favor of all this secrecy?

I mean, im willing to bet that Jim is actually hurting his sales by having the appearance of a defunct operation. I don't think anyone is asking for timetables, or even specific games, but just an acknowledgment that something is in development, and that its not a solitaire game.

How many people have gone to Solecismic's site, look at it, and leave. The design is outdated by 1999's standards, and nothing, absolutely nothing tells you the company is actually operative.

I also know that this has been discussed to death, so i bet some tempers will show.

I don't care about the homepage layout. For me it is fine as it is, as long as the FOF/TCY series is kept alive.
The update of FOF2007 last year was a good piece of work, and I appreciate that it is being supported. Though I'd really like to see some progress on the TCY front. Even if it only is an updated version, which gets all conferences right, maybe combined with a revamped FOF2007 engine.

Though, I am kind of dreaming of a "Total FOF" which has TCY and FOF combined in one game, so that you could switch between college and pro ranks, generate your own drafts and follow you college players in the pros.

To me, any new TCY game *needs* to have playcalling. It just doesn't seem right to me that you can call plays in FOF, where you're primarily acting as the general manager, yet in the college game, where the same person could be responsible to roster management AND calling plays, you can't do both. Speaking of playcalling, there should be some pass plays with no read. I should be able to call a fade pass instead of a play where the WR runs a corner and the QB makes a read. Giving a QB the ability to audible would be nice, also. Also, you should be able to run practices, and get info out of them -- this way you don't have to rely on meaningful games to find out whether or not a player is as good as scouted. Perhaps you could have to choose how much time you devote to practice, and how much to recruiting each week, to determine how much info you get out of each one. This leads to a pace more similar to FM than FOF/TCY, and that may not be what the series is going for, but I think a slower pace (or at least options that make the pace slower) are worth looking into.

Also on playcalling, one thing I love about BBCF is that it tells me how effective I am running each play -- yards per play, completion percentage, big plays, TD, and INTs. I think it can be improved by seeing how well I run it in practice. Also, it would be nice to see similar information for other teams (but probably not in their practices). How well do they run each play? How well do they defend each play? I think this will add to the immersion -- instead of knowing which players are good on a team, you'll be able to get to know what the teams as a whole are good and bad at.

And another thing...
I just had to re-install my winblows OS !!!!!!!!! AGAIN !!!!!!!!(because of the Bill Gates and PC industry conspiracy to make gates richer by selling more PC's with winblows installed) I have to (and hope) that I can re install my already for copy of TCY AGAIN!!!!!!!!, I recall something about a limit of the number of copies that can be re-downloaded from Solecismic. Then I have to correct the default goofy names of the bowl games and then to top it all off I have lost all my previous saved games because I have no idea where in the hell this game saves games. Thanks Jim !!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be nice to have the option when installing a game, for the computer user to choose where he/she wants a program to save vital information. It should never be on the same drive as the OS because of the conspiracy that causes many to re-format drives or others who forced to purchase new computers.

If you have to continually reinstall Windows, it is either hardware or user error. I haven't been "forced" to reinstall WinXP Pro yet, the only reason I ever do is hardware upgrades, and of course, my stuff is already backed up onto a second drive as it is, so its of no consequence when I do format and reinstall.

Thanks mbarry,
as I matter of fact I do have a hardware problem that has been the cause of much grief. I'm having to restore system on C drive, I have a partitioned D drive which I try to save everything except the main OS, but in most cases with installing software especially downloaded software they hide key components that enable the program to run somewhere on the c drive which cannot be backed up (unless you run a back up program constantly). I have this issue with this TCY, Real Arcade downloaded games, as well as with Microsoft Office. Luckily I had saved the install program for TCY and had my order key but I still lost the "real" names of the Bowl games that I typed in and all my previous saved games.
All I am asking for is perhaps a common place where user changes such bowl games names and saved games could stored that can be backed up. AS I stated already I have no idea where these are stored. I did have TCY on a my D drive but when I had to re-format C drive, TCY could not be lauched any more!

As great as a major renovation to TCY would be, I would be satisfied with just a modest upgrade. I used to think play-calling was essential, but the engine is so good in this game I could live without it as long as some other elements were tweaked. Ability to schedule 12 & 13 games would be huge (though as I understand it this is one of the most complicated parts of the code). Short punts have been mentioned. Also, it's very hard to play using the bowl system because of the tendency of certain computer-owned teams to get great and stay there forever, causing season after season of five or more undefeateds with several teams locked out of the national championship (often the top two bowls are matchups of undefeated teams). Ability to edit conference matchups might help this a bit.

Still an amazingly great game. I finally bought FOF2007 recently and am really enjoying it, but it also made me yearn for a TCY update.

Speaking of which, that's one last thing that could use some attention--TCY draft imports. It's really not as bad as some people say, but yes, there's too much talent (though I haven't tried it with FOF 2007 yet) and there is that issue of bench players who haven't played being high-rated top prospects.
