OT: Hattrick USA Cup Thoughts

So it seems my crappy 5th place in a DV series team that hasn't yet won a game under my ownership has pulled a DVI team in round one. Not sure exactly how the draw works, but that seems to me to be a mistake. Looking at their team, there's only one guy valued anywhere near $100,000, so just an assumption that I'll stomp him. However, since I'm DV and he's DVI, he's seeded lower and therefore gets home field advantage.

Couple of questions:

1) Is there any way of telling whether or not this is a "bot team"?

2) If there is, is it safe to assume that I'll whoop him? I seem to have learned a little bit about the game, so I think I'm putting my best lineup out there and such...managed to tie my friendly against the Scranton Slime this week, so I can't be all that bad :)

3) Anyone have any experience getting into the later rounds of the cup? I figure if I beat this guy, I'm pretty much assured of facing someone superior to my team...but then again, like I said, I'm not sure how selection works, so maybe I won't.

Since I'm still relatively new (maybe about a month of experience as a Hattrick manager), I'm just trying to get a handle on what I'm looking at going into the cup. That, and I thought we could use a thread to discuss the Cup :)

bot teams are named something like "Maine Warlocks"...I'm playing a D-VI team, too.

And before you disparage teams w/ 1 players valued @ over 100k...look at my team :/

My only played valued over 100k is my keeper, who is about to turn 29...but I did win my div last year :)

from what i have gathered over at the hattrick conferences....all human teams play a 'bot' team in the first round. If he is in Div VI, then it is a bot team, as no human owners have been placed in Div VI yet.

1) Yes, if you look at the team page and it doesn't have an owner listed then its a bot team, and all teams in Div VI are currently bot teams

2) I would think so, but I am not sure how good the bot teams are

3) This is my first cup game also...so I have no experience with them.

Thanks Doug and rexall...I'm not trying to talk him down, but I'll be quite disappointed at a first round exit :)

They're like the Miami something-or-others, so I'll assume bot-team. Not going to take it easy on them though :) Too bad one of my starting forwards is out two weeks :(

Jesus christ... i must have drawn the greatest bot team ever.
There tops guys values are 229,000, 131,000, 125,000, 82,000, 74,000, and 71,000.

WTF is up with that???

They are valued higher then my team... by alot!!

This sucks... im gonna get my ass handed to me by a bot team :(

Pull up the team information screen -- if there's no line that says "Owner: somedOOd" then it's a bot team.

Not true on both counts -- I believe several folks have mentioned that they do have a human opponent for the first cup round and someone found human teams in VI.92 I believe it was (I looked myself just to be sure and they definately are human teams).
