PS3 IP Conflict Resolution - Need Help

Ok, I have a DSL Connection, WRT54GS linksys router with 1 computer hooked up via wireless connection downstairs and 1 computer upstairs with a ethernet cable coming off the router directly into the computer.

I hooked up my PS3 via wireless and it caused a IP conflict with the computer downstairs so, I did a wired connection from the PS3 to the router and now my upstairs computer has the IP connection.

I'm guessing I have to assign static ips to get around this?

I'm probably smart enough to know that there is something I need to do, but dumb enough to not know wtf to do. (Networks are not my strong suit) :banghead:

Have you tried unplugging the router and seeing if it automatically resolves all of the conflicts when it restarts?

I have exactly same setup and router.

You have two options:

- Set both the computer and Ps3 to automatic configuration, restart both and the WRT54GS will assign them a different ip by DHCP.

- Set an static IP for both the computer and PS3 in the same range than the router (by default 192.168.1.xxx)

Go into Network Settings....

Then go to Internet Connection Settings....

Select the Custom method, then move to the right until you get to the IP Address Setting and choose Manual. Then you should be able to put in something.

When I ran into issues with my 360, I put in a high IP for it, like 192.168.1.201
