I finally broke down and bought TDCB and after some solid hours navigating and playing the game, I'm happy I did.
Arlie did a great job with the interface. Now that I'm used to it, I like it alot. I do wish you were notified when a new recruiting week started.
The game is really easy on the eyes and coaching a game was never this fun. Do not disturb me once a game has started :).
Anyway, I'm only a handful of games into my franchise with St. Louis and so far my 'jones factor' is high.

I really really wish they could have had this thing working decently right out of the box. I was turned off for quite a while by the astoundingly bad state the game found itself in after release, and I haven't really picked it up much since then. However, the time I have spent with it, I've really enjoyed. But with CM4 arriving soon, I probably will never get into it as much as I would like to. Hopefully next year's version will get me some more playing time.

Hey Todd,
You still playing MVP Baseball?? I picked it up after hearing you say you liked it, but have you kept going with it?? Haven't opened my copy yet since I've been skeptical about the idea of EA making a good baseball game...Just if you see this, your .02 would be appreciated..

The EA sports baseball game is pretty good for the xbox my girl picked it up for me as i am a diehard baseball fan. I am shocked at the actual quality of the game. I wish there was a manage only option as i gotten much better at hitting/pitching then when i started playing and i think i skew the stats in favor of my guys. If i sim the game i lose the "feel" for my team. I have not played multiplayer but it sure seems like it would be fun. I personally love getting to the 6th,7th innning with your starter in a close game espcially if your bullpen has been giving up a couple runs a game in the last couple. I did go 19 innings against the computer and he went through his bullpen and put in the next days starter then went ahead and started the game for that game and he got shelled and an early hook sorta bothered me that he pitched like 4 innnings yesterday and tried to start the next game. There are a few things that would make the game better but its worth a look. Things i like no automatic steals (at least with my guys so far i am usually around 60%), the simulated pitcher/batter duel changing speeds and location makes a difference and it gets tougher to make your pitches as you get more tired, guys getting thrown out outfielders make assists even at first base if your guy is slow many baseball games don't look like a baseball game this one is the best at that, the pitch the crack of the bat the way the ball comes off it it seems right.
i give the game a b+ overall
(it would be an A+ if i could manage only and watch the game)

Yes, still playing it to get away from the PC and reading text. ;)
In fact, I'm doing worse with the Cardinals in MVP than with the Cardinals in ootp5. The 'jump into a game' feature is great, start simming a game and jump into whatever inning you want to.. heck, jump into the 9th inning to close out a game or try to mount a comeback. Deep, the game is not, but 'FUN' it is.
If you want something with a high fun factor, try it out. If you want a deep franchise mode, pass on MVP this year and get a different game. Like most games, it's not for everyone, but I will say this, I have more friends coming over to get a game in than any other game I've bought for my ps2.
With FOF4, OOTP5, and TDCB taking up my gaming time, I still thrive to play a game or two of MVP... hitting has never been this fun.

Im hooked on TDCB right now. It is a really good game. But there are still some minor problems with the game. And since Arlie hasnt posted anything on the OOTP boards for a long time i have a feeling that there done with the patches and thats a shame. Its so close to being perfact :(
But overall its a very good game

What problems are you having?

not bugs.... but things like low scoring centers. Centers with A's in almost every Category scoring 9 ppg and 9 rpg. It happens all the time. And when recruiting high school players there stats go wwwaaayyyy up one week the wwaaayyy down the next. I just had a guy today.. he was averaging 29.5 ppg and 11 rbg in high school. I work on him for a few weeks and then he decides to come play for my school. The next week his he averaged 8.9 ppg and 5.2 rpg.
There are a few other things people are complaining about over at the OOTP message boards also. These are not game stoppers but it would be nice if they were tweaked a little.

Are you using "real" players? I've heard that the default players results come out much more realistic.

Are you talking about fictional players?

OK, here's what I have found through feedback:
For Simmed Games, everything seems OK, with the exception of 2 point FGs being slightly high and 3s being slightly low.
For PBP Games, there is a difference from a standpoint of fouls and other stats.
Overall, post players still don't have the desired impact in certain situations as well.
So, I am going to investigate each of these three ideas and see what I can do to address them. I can't promise anything at this point, but I will do what I can.
