The longer I think about this story, the better I like it.
Bar brawl ends with stabbing | Athens Banner-Herald (http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/030909/cop_406886922.shtml)
A man was stabbed between 3:20 and 4 a.m. Sunday morning at Gresham's Disco, 1495 W. Broad St., after a bar fight spilled onto the streets, Athens-Clarke police said.
A security guard at Gresham's Disco witnessed the stabbing and tried to handcuff the attacker when the suspect's mother attacked the security guard, police said.
The security guard chased the knifeman to an address off of Broad Street, but when police arrived, they could not find the suspect, police said.
In all my life, all the bar fights I've even heard about, never before have I heard of the suspect's mother trying to rescue him. Domestic complaints, sure. Family squabbles, okay. But a bar fight? Who has their mother watch their back when they get in a bar fight?

There was a boxing match several years ago in which the mother of one of the fighters jumped into the ring and started attacking his opponent.

Here's video of it. The video is 10 min. long (and shows several fights). It's the first one so you don't have to watch the whole thing. And I have no idea what happened during decision.

In this case, it's a less dated term than the more apt "juke joint". Concrete block building sitting next door to a co-owned note & tote used car lot, right across the street from one of the roughest housing projects in town. For those familiar with Athens, it's a couple of blocks from The Varsity headed away from downtown.
For those not familiar, it's less than 10 minutes from downtown Athens & the UGA campus.

For those not familiar, it's less than 10 minutes from downtown Athens & the UGA campus....and for the last 20+ years there has been a sign on it saying "Play All The Latest." Is that sign still there? I haven't been in that part of Athens in 3-4 years...

Any time I go into a juke joint, I'm expecting to see people doing the Charleston and flirting with the flappers.
Two things come to mind when I see the word disco in todays world...
1. Something on the History channel regarding something in the 70s
2. Europe.

I count five instances of that last name on signs. Do they really like their last name?

It's the new generation. Parents are coming to college to talk to their child's professors over a bad mark, to their residence hall manage (read: me) over the smallest infraction by their child's roommate, they are negotiating contracts with companies, and now? Getting into their fights! It's jsut the next wave

First thing I thought of was I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. I can't find the scene on the YouTubes though.
