I was sitting at work today trying to come up with a way to get a little deeper into OOTP. I came up with an idea, but I would like some input as to how or even if such an idea is possible.
My general plan is to mold the lague into one of promotion/relegation. Basically take the worst (or worst 2 or 3, etc) teams from the current season, then replace them with the AAA club that has the best record since OOTP allows for simming minor leagues, then following suit down from AAA to AA to A...
I would like to use actual team names/logos for this "experiment" since it would eventually be my hope that the Yankees would end up as something like the Expos' A ballclub. However, I'm not even sure that such an idea is even possible. So far the way I see it is:
1) sim/play the season
2) delete the team with the worst record, thereby releasing all their players/coaches to free agency
3) add the team that had the best record in AAA, including logos and all
4) give the team cash, etc. just like it were an expansion
5) Rename the AAA affiliate of the newly promoted team to the one that was relegated
6) Run the off-season plans
7) Lather, rinse, repeat...
The only question I have is whether or not the newly created AAA team will take it upon themselves to sign free agents and all to field a competitive team. I figure for all intensive purposes, promoting the team from AAA to the majors would be impossible or at least a nightmare to accomplish, so this would be the next best way...
Beyond this, the only questions I guess there would be are whether to use real players, starting in 2003, or use some fictional set, or anywhere inbetween..If there is some interest, I can turn it into a dynasty report...I value the opinions of the members here, so let me know what you guys think...
