So I keep trying to uncheck Read-Only for the saves folder for DDS:PB and blah blah blah I give Vista permission... only it keeps going right the hell back to Read-Only and I've got it on Run as Adminstrator, Windows XP SP 2 compatibility mode, etc.
Any idea how to fix it?
I swear I fucking hate Vista so damned much.

Where is the saves folder for DDS:PB? That affects the answer.

In C:/Program Files/Wolverine Studios etc.
For some reason, the Geek Squad, when putting in the new HD, didn't partition the 250 into a C drive and D drive... they just left it all as one giant C drive.
So I guess that leads me to another question besides the Read-Only problem. Is there a way to partition it so I have another D drive that I can move stuff over to?

Okay, what you need to do is either install the game outside of Program Files, or give yourself permission to write to that folder. I don't remember the exact menu items, but browse to the folder containing the game, right-click, select Properties, select Security, select "Users of this computer", click the adjust/edit button, then select either Modify or All or Full or whatever it's called, then OK all the way out. You will now be able to write to this folder.

For partitioning, utilities like PartitionMagic can do this. Not sure which free ones do. But the giant C drive isn't the issue it used to be, so leaving it as one big C isn't really costing you anything.

yeah this is a permissions issue in that directory, nothing to do with the partitions at all.

Thanks guys. :)
It was still giving me hassles when I tried the control thing, so I said screw it and just put it in a different directory, which made it work.

But the giant C drive isn't the issue it used to be, so leaving it as one big C isn't really costing you anything.I would say that if you put Windows on a big enough partition to accommodate future updates (C: drive), and then make another partition (D: drive), you could reinstall Windows if you needed to without losing the data on D even if you reformat C. I just feel that it's a better option than just having one big partition.
I know that there is some free partitioning software out there but not sure of any good ones that work, especially as it's a Vista machine.
