Curious what your league fees generally are. I know it can vary a bit by sport. Our baseball league is $40 to get in and I have an owner complaining about how expensive it is. I'm baffled by that as I think it's fairly cheap.

Poll to come...

FWIW, some research that came across my desk last year from a prospective client put the figure somewhere between $30 and $60 per team, depending upon the sport.

There was a staggering (to me) figure in that research too, something like the average fantasy gamer spending over $300 per year on the hobby. That left me dumbfounded since, outside of FOFC, I've never known a single person who actually spent a dime to play any fantasy sport whatsoever (with the exception of NCAA bracket pools, and I'm not sure I include that when I think of "fantasy sports").

I like playing for a little money. The baseball and football i do is $25 but I would go as high as $50.

I have a friend who is in a $500 per person league for football

The 2 baseball leagues I'm in, one is $75 for the year and the other one runs me about $300 for the year after all the fees are done. We have $2 add / $2 drops / $2 IR and $25 to drop a long term contract so, it adds up.

The 2 football leagues I'm in are $150 each flat fee.

I can't imagine giving a shit about fantasy football if there were no money on the line. I think we played for 30 this year, I hope it's right around 50 next year. My one bud is in a league for 150, but I think that's too expensive.

The 300 per year figure is probably higher than you'd think it is cause there's people literally playing for 10k a piece I'm sure.

the one I am in runs $150 plus we then bid real money on top of that for free agents

When I was 13-17 or so I played in leagues that costs anywhere from $100-$300 against adults. Those leagues prize money paid for my first computer and first laptop.

Now that I'm an adult and married with bills and less time, I only play for free.

I do a mix of free and low fee leagues but would like to find a good $100+ league with a nice payout structure. Most I've paid to this point is $50, but I'll tend to only do one or two pay leagues per sport at a time.

$100 per team in my fantasy football league. I'll usually throw down $10 or so for a March Madness bracket but that's about all the fantasy sports I play.

I've only ever played in free leagues. FWIW, several FOFCers were talking about a $100 buy-in baseball league in another thread and I thought that amount was more than I would ever pay for one league annually. That isn't to say that I would never join a pay league, I would just never join one that charged more than $20 per team.

One football league, $50 entrance fee.

I used to do multiple leagues before kids, but now can't justify spending that $.

I work with a guy who does 4 football leagues, all between $50 and $100 entrance. So even before waiver moves, etc, he laid out like $300 this year.

I think this would be a lot of fun assuming there was some sort of cap so the richest person doesnt just buy all the top players every year.

Fantasy football for free sounds horrible. Whats the point? Water cooler talk on Monday about the big matchup in MNF between the first and second place fantasy teams?

Free fantasy baseball is the new Chinese water torture. Tons of work with no tangible benefit. Ugh.

I can't imagine every paying money to play in a league. You don't have to, and I give myself enough of an ulcer just playing for nothing. I'd be in quite a state if it was actually costing me money.

The football league I run is $20 to enter and money based on loses, usually between $1-$5 based on how often you lose.

When I played in a money baseball league, it was $50 to enter and each transaction was $1. So, we had some guys throwing $200 worth of transactions on the table.

I find the competition is a lot better when people have something personally invested.

My work baseball league is $50, work football league is $50, football league with friends is $250, FFOC league (Fantasy Football - Fantasy Football Open Championship - Home - FFOC.com (www.ffoc.com)) is $125 (split that one with my brother in law). I also play in a Monday Night Football box pool that is $170 for the season.
