Anyone else watching Better Off Ted? I wasn't sure what to make of it from the commercials, but I've been getting a good couple of laughs out of each episode.
Funny from tonights, the main character had to bring his daughter into work and was going to have her stay at the works daycare, until the lady in charge said they were going to be painting white lines in the parking garage. Plus the supporting actress girl that likes the main character is pretty hot...

I've watched the first three episodes and really enjoyed them. I think the two chemists make the show but I'm not sure how long it'll hold on. I watched the last episode with my parents and my wife and realized very quickly that I was the only one that found it funny. After talking to some of my high school students as well, they said they "just don't get it." I think it's a pretty decent satire and was going to use it in class but I'm the only one I know that actually enjoys the show!

this is Adam Harrington's new show, right? He used to live over the back fence from me when I was younger and graduated a few years ahead of me from HS.

The guy in charge of this show was the same guy in charge of "Andy Richter Controls the Universe", so if its quirkiness seems familiar, that's it. Of course that also means it probably will be canceled soon, but let's not think of that.

I've dvr'ed them, but haven't watch yet. I have a feeling I'm going to really like it, and then it'll be canceled.

I've watched it, but it hasn't gotten beyond quirky - I really like the characters (especially Portia De Rossi), but its not particularly catching overall.

This show is not ARCTU quality but I am sticking with it as it is definitely enjoyable. I agree with Crapshoot that it's failing to go beyond its potential right now but I'm hoping it gets there.

Not only do I not know what the hell you people are talking about but nobody through 12 posts even mentions a network, date, time, or anything else. (although I did manage to extrapolate that it must be Wed nights somewhere). This could be on the CW, HBO, or Lifetime for all I can tell.
Now granted, I don't get the impression that I'm going to be the target audience but it might be easier to draw potential fans if somebody worked details like that into a post somewhere.

ABC 8:30 after Scrubs on Wed.
Of course a websearch could have landed you that info... ;)

Nah, the onus is on the fans to provide the info. Who knows, I might even be a Nielsen family someday, so it's in your best interest.
edit to add: Yikes, just realized I left off the ;) from this reply.

Tonight's episode was one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
When the "solution" was a separate water fountain (for blacks), I totally fucking lost it.

The first episode was good and tonights was good also. The other 2 were a bit hit or miss with funny part but definitely still working the kinks out though. I think the show has some potential and hopefully it will continue to improve.

Agreed that this show is too good to continue.
Almost worth it for the Veridian Dynamics ad in each episode.

Season finale rescheduled to next Tuesday at 830p after being bumped by Obama.
Normally I would say that the show is almost certainly toast, ratings have bordered on abysmal (ranked #56 a couple of weeks ago) and have been sliding since the debut (from a 2.2 down to a 1.7) but one thing it does have going for it is that Scrubs has sucked wind about as bad & so it might get the unlikely benefit of having a poor lead-in.
Still no official word on its status although I think it's prospects have to be considered limited at best at this point.

I actually find the Veridian Dynamics ad to be the worst part of the show. They are so over the top (even more than the show itself) that I find myself rolling my eyes.

I think it's because there are real costs with developing new shows and so networks are contenting themselves with the bird in hand.

JIMG was saying this was a result of lack of new pilots in the Dollhouse thread. Of course that won't always be the case. And Better Off Ted HAS to get a higher ratings or its toast next year.
This is almost like you get a new chance because we have no other options.

Hmmm this was recommended for me on Netflix since I like Arrested Development. Since my back's decided it doesn't want to work anymore (likely herniated disk, MRI tomorrow), I have a ready-made excuse to lay on my couch and watch TV. Watched all of what was on Netflix (Season 1) and want more. Might end up going to iTunes and buying season 2. This show has no chance of being renewed again, I think, but I quite enjoy it.

Oddly enough I stumbled on that one last night on Netflix, too. Watched the first episode and liked it, was reminded that I need to get back into the books, once my current book is done.

I got the first series on DVD, partially in the dim hope that DVD sales will inspire them to pick up a second season eventually ... their 'take' on the books was spot on imho.
PS - The new book came out recently, just started reading it and first impressions are its going to be great :D

Apologies - not sure if it is myself now ... saw this thread and terpkristin's post being very recent I didn't relaise it'd been resurrected so am not sure if the 'new' series was the last one I saw or not now, hope it keeps going as I love the show.

TV networks are busy working on the fall lineups they will announce next week to advertisers, and in order to make room for potentially hot shows, networks are cleaning house.
Over at ABC, “Scrubs,” “Better off Ted,” “The Deep End” and “The Forgotten” are all done for while the possibility of another season of “V” is still unknown, according to the L.A. Times. “Flash Forward” is another series that seems to be coming to an end, but is still a question mark for the network.
Embattled NBC is picking up the series procedural drama “Chase” from Jerry Bruckheimer. The show, which follows a team of U.S. Marshals chasing down fugitives, has been added to NBC’s other recent pickups, including J.J. Abrams'“Undercover,” a drama about a couple who gets back in the CIA game.
There's also still hope for “Chuck” fans: NBC president Angela Bromstad told THR that while it’s too early for her to say what will happen, the show is the network’s “highest-performing Monday night show,” Bromstad said. “We look at it as a very strong player, and it’s a show that matches up with our new shows.”
“Heroes,” on the other hand, may not be able to save itself. Bromstad said in the interview that with shows “like ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Heroes’ that don’t perform well in repeats, we could be looking at shows sharing the same time slots (split between fall and spring)…With shows like that, we really have to sit down and figure out all the pieces of the schedule.”
Over at the CW, “The Vampire Diaries” is a definite yes while “Melrose Place” has been killed off. The network's buzzy pilot “Nikita" also appears to be off to a good start - the series, a remake of "La Femme Nikita," is reportedly starting to hunt for writers, according to DeadlineHollywood.com.
