Can someone explain to me why the Twins' new ballpark doesn't at least have a retractable roof? That way you could avoid getting snowed out, and still get your open-air games in the summer.

Being totally open air in that latitude makes no sense to me.

How disconnected from MLB am I? I had no idea they were getting a new stadium.

spleen1015, I may want to murder you in your sleep, but I agree with you on this.

Sorry, I don't mean your sleep. I mean my sleep.

And I don't mean murder.

Well, yes, I do.

Nothing but love.

I don't think it's gotten a lot of press, but I saw the note about open-air in this (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Av5LFr1rU5D7MwLRjHVtNqCpu7YF?slug=ap-mariners-twinsopener&prov=ap&type=lgns) article.

Too expensive.
They had a hell of a time getting anything.

Most of the proposals that went through the state Senate in Minnesota were for a retractable roof stadium, but I believe it was an additional $300 million that the state couldn't afford at that time especially with the state also helping finance the Gophers new stadium. Now, with the state in a major hole budget wise, the Vikings will come calling for a new stadium. Hopefully, they find some $$$ to keep them in MN or they may be heading to LA. Ugh...

Maybe the early season road trips will mean more homestands in September?

Boston and Chicago could use retractable roofs too.

It came down to money but I think the stadium will be fine. It seems like those stadiums with retractable roofs are way to eager to use them.

You haven't heard? It's the Chargers that will be going to LA. The Vikings will be safe. :)

I'd rather see baseball shorten the length of their season or throw in more doubleheaders so that baseball can start in mid-april and the playoffs begin in mid-September.

It's going to be a disaster up there, but not much worse than what we see in Chicago, Detroit, New York, etc.

Man, I totally miss the double headers. So many good memories of my dad and me going to Padres games and seeing them lose twice in one day. :D
